About Montana
Hi, I'm Montana, a mature Staffy who has never been more ready for my new home/family!
My foster carers call me their ‘Mary Poppins’ dog because I'm practically perfect :). With new people (and new dogs) I can occasionally be a bit growley or stand-offish, but it’s just because I’m actually still a bit scared of the big world out there. If you’re familiar with dog’s body language I practically telegraph how I’m feeling—if you’re not then my carers can explain it to you. SAFE will share my sad story with you if you want, but I’ve said goodbye and good riddance and I’ve got a jaunty bounce to my step now. I love to play with well-mannered dogs of all sizes in the park. But if they’re very young/pushy I'll just give a small growl to tell them I'm uncomfortable, and move away.
At home I enjoys a cuddle on the couch with my humans and can sometimes be quite chatty with a series of whines/talks.
I don’t have any bad habits--I don’t chew, dig or bark excessively, but I will let you know when someone’s at the door. I love my toys (especially anything that squeaks) but be forewarned—unless it’s industrial quality I *will* demolish it and remove the squeaker in no time flat. But I’ll have SO much fun doing it you’ll keep offering them to me :).
Although I'm not a fan of sprinklers or hoses, and will just tolerate the dog wash man, I truly love going to the beach/river. I've proven myself an incredibly strong swimmer (on a long lead) and love retrieving a floating toy from the water.
From her carers: Montana hasn't met cats or children yet, but we think she’d be fine with older kids (8+). She has no idea of her own size and sometimes when she wants to ‘cuddle’ will SIT on her carer, which might be a bit much for toddlers. Recently we've been encountering the neighbour's cat while out walking--the cat lies in their driveway. Montana has been interested (ie watching intently) but has passed within a metre and never pulled. I have a sneaking suspicion that if the cat ran, she would chase, but she's not very fast :)
We've been very tempted to adopt her ourselves, but we love to travel and for this reason find fostering suits us better. But if you adopted her and *ever* needed a dog-sitter, we'd be happy to have her back :) So what do you say, can you give Montana a home of her own? Apply now!
