This charming canine is searching for his forever home and is eager to bring love, companionship, and adventure into your life. Berkley may not be suitable for a household with other dogs, but if you're looking for a loyal, friendly, and outdoor-loving companion, keep reading to discover what makes Berkley the perfect addition to your calm, active, or outdoorsy lifestyle.
About Me: Berkley boasts a comfortable and easy-going nature that's sure to brighten your day. He's a medium-energy pooch, perfectly adaptable to both your quiet, cosy evenings at home and your active outdoor escapades.
Berkley is a versatile and agreeable canine, but he might initially be a bit shy and timid around new people. Don't worry, though – he's a fast learner and will quickly warm up to you and your family in no time! Berkley was initially quite shy when he first arrived at the shelter but has since grown in confidence. With your love and support, he will flourish and become the loyal and affectionate dog you've been searching for.
When left alone, Berkley prefers to snuggle up on his bed for a peaceful nap.
His independent nature makes him suitable for part-time workers, so he can adjust to your schedule without any fuss.
Ideal Home: If you're searching for a dog to join your family then Berkley is a fantastic fit. He’s suitable for homes that are calm and quiet or for people who lead an active and outdoorsy lifestyle.
He thrives on having access to both indoors and outdoors and is best suited for a medium to large yard with secure fencing. This allows him to explore, play, and soak up the fresh air while staying safe.
Family: Berkley is open to meeting children aged 8 years and up. He's patient, gentle, and eager to be a loyal friend to your family, ensuring your kids have a furry companion to grow up with.
Furry Friends: Berkley may not be suitable for households with other dogs due to past socialization challenges. However, in return for your love and care, he'll be your loyal and loving companion. While we can't confirm his compatibility with cats or pocket pets, it's best to play it safe for now and say that he should be the only pet in the household.
Work Hard: This clever boy is food-motivated and takes treats with the utmost care. Reward-based training at home will be a breeze with Berkley, and he's willing to learn new tricks. He already knows how to sit, but he's excited to expand his repertoire!
We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.
Play Hard: Berkley enjoys daily walks and benefits from getting out and about for 30-60 minutes each day. He's the perfect partner for those who appreciate the beauty of the great outdoors and prefer a canine companion who loves to take in the sights and smells during those leisurely strolls.
Berkley loves cuddles and enjoys quality time with his humans, making him an excellent companion for both relaxation and adventures.
Post-Adoption Life: With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as seamless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories - most are left in the shelter by their owners. The information we have is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks may surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
Adoption details
Please remember that the pets we have available sometimes come to us with no history, so we do our very best to get to know them while they are here and to match them to your home. Sometimes animals behave differently outside of the shelter environment, so please do keep in touch after adoption so that we can help you settle your new family member in and address any unexpected behaviours.
