About Snickers
Snickers the dachshund is even better than the chocolate bar he is named after!
This little boy has a wonderful personality. He is a very sweet natured dog who loves everyone that he meets. Snickers is happy to go up and meet anyone that he comes across to get some pats. He absolutely loves cuddles – like loves, loves cuddles. If he had it his way, Snickers would be laying on or next to you all the time! He is a super cuddler and will always lean his body weight into you, snuggling in nice and tight. Another thing that Snickers loves is toys, and he plays with his collection of them often. He is a joyful little dog who is bound to put a smile on your face.
Snickers’ sociability extends to his canine friends. He currently has regular playdates with the neighbour’s spoodle, and he actually seems particularly fond of other oodles as well. When Snickers heads out for his walks, he regularly passes other dogs. He gives the occasional bark at one but is otherwise generally friendly and playful with others. It would be great for his new owners to continue positive socialisation with Snickers, ideally in the form of playdates with his friends. This little guy is confident out and about and loves going for his walks. His new home will need to provide daily walks for him and be willing to take him on outings.
While in foster home, Snickers has been brushing up on his training and learning some basic obedience. He now knows how to ‘sit’, ‘down’ and ‘leave it’. Snickers walks well on the lead but does get excited and will pull you along a bit. He loves to explore and take in all the smells. Snickers sleeps throughout the night on his bed in his carer’s room and he is toilet trained. He is not a barker at noises, but he will bark continuously if left all alone so we will be looking for a home with someone home pretty much all of the time or who has the ability to take him along with them. Snickers travels very well in the car and often just naps, so he is a pleasure to have join you on outings and for adventures.
We are looking for a dog experienced home for Snickers where he will be a loved member of the family and included in the daily outings. He is able to live as an only dog if someone is home pretty much all of the time or you can take him along with you. Otherwise, he can live with another friendly and easy going dog, which may allow him to do better when left at home without his people (however, this is untested at this stage).
Snickers should be allowed inside the home to be with the family and will need a warm comfy bed inside to sleep on at night. He does enjoy being outside so a yard is preferable but will require secure fencing as he show signs that he doesn’t mind having a dig. Snickers is not suited to living with cats but is fine to live with children who are old enough to understand how to behave appropriately around dachshunds. He will need a new home who can give him lots of love and attention - and of course, many, many cuddles!

Don't see a breed attached to one of our dogs? That's because we don't breed label dogs of unknown genetic history. We can't guess at breeds but that's okay, because we can tell you about the dog's individual personality, character, and behaviour.
