Elsie

Elise loves affection and cuddles. She is friendly and very sweet natured and will not complain of too many hugs and kisses. She loves people and will shadow you and will want to sit with you on the couch or in bed.

She will greet you enthusiastically when you get home, and sometimes get so excited she has to get her teddy bear. She’ll also grab her teddy and bring it to you when she wants to play. If you throw teddy, she will fetch him, but not before gnawing on him a little and giving him a shake.

Elsie loves food! So when she’s quietly staring at you with her hard-to-resist, pleading eyes while you’re eating at the table, you must not give in to this little cutie, she needs to maintain a healthy diet and weight.

MY IDEAL HOME: I prefer a peaceful household where my humans are working from home or retired because I love to be with my humans. I am OK if left alone. If you do leave me at home, then a doggie door to an enclosed yard, where I can explore and go toilet, is best for me. I have arthritis in my hind legs so a home without many stairs is better for me, especially as I get older.

MY ENERGY LEVEL: I am a chilled-out Pom. Rare, I know. My favourite activity is to hang out with you in the same room. If you’re watching tele on the couch, then I’m happy to snuggle beside you. If you’re napping or sleeping, then I’m happy to keep you company on the bed or the floor. I only bark when I need to - like if I want you to wake up and feed me, or if I want you to pick me up so I can hang with you on the couch, or if I can see the postman through the screen door. I love going for walks but I can’t go too far or too long because of the arthritis in my back legs and the minor heart condition I have.

MY SUITABILITY TO CHILDREN: Teens are OK but no small children.

MY SUITABILITY TO CATS AND DOGS: I live with two other small dogs in my foster family and we get along great – as long as they don’t try to steal my food! I bare my teeth and growl if one of my fur siblings gets too much in my face and tries to eat my food; this is when I show that I can hold my own. Otherwise, I like running with the pack. When my human takes me for a walk to the dog park, I get excited seeing all the big dogs and I bark and bark and pull on my leash, but once I meet the big dog, I get all quiet. I’ve never been around cats.
