About:
For the person who knows that scared cats make the very best cats.
Scared cats love differently. They might take weeks or even months before they trust you — but when they do, they give you their whole heart. You become their person: the one human in the world they let their guard down for. The cat who hides from your friends becomes your hilarious sidekick when you’re alone — purring beside you, showing off their goofy, smoochy side, and looking at you like you’re a literal god who can do no wrong.
That’s Mars.
Mars is our lovable potato — a big, beautiful ginger boy with a heart as soft as his winter doona. He’s shy and sensitive, but once he trusts you, he’s deeply affectionate and emotionally attuned. If you’re feeling unwell or sad, Mars will check in with gentle head boops and quiet cuddles, as if to say, “I’ve got you.”
He’s the perfect fit for someone who wants a low-energy snugglebug rather than a high-octane adventurer. Mars isn’t a climber or jumper — he’s far too sensible for that. You’ll never find him on your kitchen benches, and he’s completely uninterested in people food (he genuinely doesn’t understand the fuss).
His favourite things in life are:
* Curling up on you in bed to watch TV
* Puffy winter doonas
* Sitting halfway inside a cat tunnel with his tail sticking out
* Hanging out on the cat-proofed balcony, always squeezed underneath something cosy and safe
Playtime with Mars is short but sweet — usually a five-minute burst of enthusiasm once or twice a day. He’ll gently bap you when he’s in the mood, then startle himself mid-pounce like the classic ginger idiot we all adore.
Mars isn’t food-motivated — in fact, when he’s upset, he sometimes refuses to eat at all. Bribes don’t work on him; only love and patience do. But when he’s content and relaxed, you’ll see the light switch on in his eyes — that’s when his true, silly self shines through.
Recently, Mars has started showing just a hint of assertiveness. He might now stand his ground for a whole three seconds if a random human invades his favourite spot, or yell indignantly if someone dares to sit where he likes to nap. Progress!
He’s still got that goofy charm — he can’t quite figure out food puzzles, and if there’s a single pillow blocking his way onto the bed, he’ll stare at it like it’s an insurmountable mountain. But that’s part of his magic — he’s endearingly clueless, sweetly gentle, and completely himself.
Mars is looking for a quiet, understanding home with someone who knows that love built on trust and patience is the strongest kind there is. Once you earn his heart, he’ll be yours forever.
