Meet Ray! His name is Ray because he's a little ray of sunshine on a rainy day.
Ray came into the RSPCA quite timid and has been in foster care learning that people are friendly. Ray is quite shy to start with, but he is an incredibly sweet and loving cat when he opens up to you. He's still a bit spooked if people approach him directly for pats, but he loves a good pat if you wait for him to come to you. His motor will start and you'll experience the loudest of purrs. He also loves to quietly keep you company throughout the day, often napping next to you while you work from home. Ray also has a playful streak. He loves to chase cat wands and bunny kick soft toys. He will often roll around on his back but touch the belly at your own risk!
He is the most food motivated cat you will meet in your life. His carer recommends you feed his meals accompanied with pats if you want him to bond extremely strongly with you. His foster carer fed him his dry food in her lap and often he would stay for snuggles afterwards. After and during meals are the best times to get some affection from Ray. He will even let you cut his nails if you distract him with food.
Ray's ideal forever home would be a quiet home with people who are patient. Ray needs humans who are prepared to continue working on his socialisation and give him time to come out of his shell. He wouldn't enjoy living with kids who don't understand boundaries and can still be afraid of loud noises or places. He would absolutely love having a feline friend to play with. Seeing the resident cats in his foster home gave him so much joy. He would ideally live with a cat with lots of energy like him and doesn't mind a good wrestle.
