Tilly - 5 Month Old German Shepherd X (Trial)

Hi, this is Tilly, a beautiful 5 month old German Shepherd X puppy, who is going to grow up to be a big girl. Tilly is an extremely affectionate young girl, who is looking for a family to give her the love and attention she deserves. Tilly loves playing with her toys and running around with the older dogs for wrestles. Tilly is a shy little girl (the big world can be scary!) and needs lots of socialisation with other dogs and people but her confidence is growing daily. Tilly spends her days outside with her foster brother and sister and is taking leaps and bounds with her crate training. She sleeps through the night in her crate.

As Tilly will grow up to be a large dog we recommend puppy-training classes to give her the best start in life. Tilly will need plenty of affection, exercise, and training. Tilly loves her ball and playing tug-o-war with her foster brother and has just discovered she can do big zoomies. Tilly has started sleeping through the night in her crate and has figured out how to use a doggy door and how to let her humans know if she needs to go to the bathroom. Tilly has been in the car a few times and is a very good girl on outings. Tilly is friendly with every dog she meets and eager to please. Tilly’s ideal family will continue to socialise her and take her on daily walks to help her build confidence in new situations.

It would be a big plus if you have a friendly adult dog as a teacher, companion, and playmate for Tilly. If you don't have another dog to keep her company, then there needs to be someone in the household that doesn't work full time.

Tilly loves human attention and is full of energy so her new family will need to have plenty of time to spend with her and continue her training, including teaching basic commands such as sit and wait. Tilly has some recall and is improving daily, so it is important that her new foster parents continue this training.

Tilly needs to be welcome inside when people are home, and to sleep inside at least until fully grown. She will be wonderful family dog and is suitable for children 8 years and older. You need good fencing with no small gaps. She can't go to rural fencing (eg: mesh or wire).

Tilly adoption fee is $700.00 which includes their desexing when they are old enough. It also includes their first two vaccinations. They have been treated for fleas and worms, and are microchipped.

Tilly is in foster care in Glendale, NSW area. Since they are not yet desexed, the are only available for adoption in the Lower Hunter region (Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Port Stephens, Maitland and Cessnock) plus Central Coast and Sydney. They will need to be returned to one of our approved vets for desexing when they are 5 to 6 months old.

PLEASE NOTE: Dog Rescue Newcastle provides individual listings with specific requirements for each foster dog. If you submit an application or inquiry and DO NOT receive a response within 5 business days, please understand that you have not met the specific requirements for this dog. Please do not be disheartened or discouraged, this simply means you were not a suitable match at this time.

This organisation's adoption policy is moderate. What does this mean?
(1) The first step is to fill in our online Adoption Questionnaire: https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt
(2) If the questionnaire is approved we will arrange a property check so we can verify that your home and yard are suitable for the pet you've applied for.
(3) After that we will arrange for you to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home, nearby park or your home.
(4) If both sides agree, then you can pay for and adopt your new family member! The two week trial begins on the day of adoption.
