About Pantera
Pantera is a giant boy who had a rough start to life. His litter were surrendered to our rescue and came into care just skin and bones. Fast forward 12 months and Pantera is thriving, you wouldn’t even know he’s had a rough past!
Pantera is a Velcro dog, he loves being close to his humans at all times which means you might have a cooking buddy or even have him follow you to the toilet!
Pantera is currently in foster care with 2 female dogs and he loves to play with them! He also loves his soft toys and likes to carry them around wherever he goes. Pantera is very protective of his home so will bark when people or dogs walk by but as soon as you come up to meet him he will greet you with a slobbery grin.
Pantera is very well behaved around food and never tries to steal from your plate or the kitchen bench (even though he can reach it just by standing!)
Pantera is also in foster care with 2 cats. Most of the time he ignores them but sometimes his foster sister encourages him to chase them! One swipe to tell him off and he learns not to mess with them.
Pantera was originally diagnosed with a grade 5 heart murmur which we have treated with medication for the past 14 months. He’s recently had his check up and the Vet has advised his heart murmur has been downgraded to a grade 3!!! Panteras heart murmur means that he gets tired very easily so he’s a pretty lazy boy for a young pup. With the continuation of his medication and a check up in 2 years time, Pantera is ready to find his forever home. Please note Panteras heart murmur is not expected to minimise his life expectancy whatsoever.
Pantera will need a strong handler and some additional lead training to work on his leash manners, mostly due to his size and strength. He can bark at lunge at other dogs while on lead but only because he wants to play.
Pantera is crate trained and is house trained but would benefit from some further obedience training to strengthen his bond with his new owners.
Pantera is a sweet boy who just wants someone to give all of his love to. He would really love a home with another calm dog as a companion and someone who has experience with extra large breeds.
Medical notes
Pantera has a grade 3 heart murmur which is required to be treated by twice daily medication Antenolol. Pantera will also require a check up in two years time by a cardio respiratory specialist.
His specialist does not believe at this stage his heart murmur will shorten his life.
