About Mittens
Meet sweet Mittens (also affectionately known as Smitty). She is absolutely as soft as she looks! And has a very sweet nature, even though she is a bit shy.
Mittens was very timid when she first came into care after spending her first months of life on the streets. She has gained a lot of confidence over the months, benefiting from the example set by the resident cats in her foster home.
Mittens really, reeaaally loves other cats. She is so affectionate and plays well with the resident and foster cats she lives with. She has a gentle and generous nature, grooming and snuggling with everyone, as well as playing rambunctiously, wrestling and racing through the flat.
While she is still a bit human shy, Smitty has come around to pats and even a few kisses. She enjoys a neck scratch the most! As she is still learning the joys of pats, she sometimes leans her head out in the cutest way before your hand has quite reached her. She is very good at indicating what she is comfortable with or if she has had enough for now. As long as you honour her signs (a head lean and a purr for pats, a little nip when she’s had enough) you’ll get along really well. We are still working on brushing and being picked up.
I cannot stress enough how much Mittens adores other cats, she will definitely not suit being a solo kitty. She will be happiest in a home with another cat (or cats). She has a great relationship with her fellow fosters (Noni, Bear, Owl) if you are considering adopting a pair.
Mittens would like an indoor only home. She does enjoy sitting in the window, watching the world go by, and time on the balcony in her current foster home.
Mittens will need some time to settle in, she will likely not be comfortable straight away. She may not be a lap cat but she is an absolute delight to have around and does enjoy some naps on the bed with her foster mum and the other cats.
