Meet Bugs, your future four-legged friend who's ready to add boundless joy to your life! Bugs is not just a dog; he's a loving, adaptable, and vibrant companion ready to bring lots of happiness & endless laughs.
About Me: Bugs is an adorable pup who's looking for his forever home, and he's a great fit for both first-time dog owners and experienced dog lovers. Whether your lifestyle is bustling and busy or calm and quiet, Bugs is ready to adapt and become a cherished member of your family.
Despite his age, Bugs exudes confidence and has an outgoing personality. His high energy needs are balanced by his loving nature, making him the perfect companion for those seeking an active and affectionate pet.
Ideal Home: Bugs would thrive in a home that allows him free access both indoors and outdoors. He loves to soak up the sun in the yard but is just as content curling up indoors with his human family. A medium to large-sized yard with high secure fencing is recommended to ensure his safety and happiness.
Family: Bugs is teething and a bit mouthy right now, because of this he’s open to meeting kids aged 10yrs & up. Obviously we are open to him meeting smaller kids, especially if they have been around puppies before & are well versed in puppy teething behaviours.
He absolutely adores the company of people. His youthful energy is infectious, and he'll bring laughter and fun to your home.
Furry Friends: Bugs is a puppy which means he's got a typical happy-go-lucky attitude with everything. This includes other dogs. We matched him up with a fellow shelter dog & he LOVED it. He displays dog social & playful behaviour. Bugs is a social butterfly when it comes to other dogs. He's ready to make new furry friends and would thrive in a household with other canine companions. His friendly disposition ensures harmonious interactions with other dogs, making playdates a breeze.
While we're unsure how Bugs would react to cats and pocket pets, his young age presents an excellent opportunity for a gradual introduction. With proper supervision and patience, Bugs may be able to learn to coexist peacefully with other small animals.
Work Hard: Bugs would benefit from post-adoption training, such as group classes to enhance his social skills, one-on-one training for specific needs, or training at home to reinforce good behaviour. He's a quick learner and is food-motivated, making the training process enjoyable for both of you. Bugs already knows how to sit, and with a little guidance, he'll quickly master other commands. While he may sometimes jump in excitement, with proper training, he'll become a well-mannered and polite pup.
Bugs is working on his leash skills and, with training, will become a well-behaved walking partner. He can also be introduced to dog parks with the right guidance and training.
We always recommend post-adoption training whether it be at home or with a professional. Training doesn’t have to be a chore – it can be a fun experience for you both, it doesn’t have to take long & is a great way for you to bond with your new pal.
Play Hard: Bugs loves soft toys and squeaky toys, making playtime a blast. There is no doubt that you'll share countless happy moments with this playful pup.
He's an inquisitive and curious dog who loves exploring his surroundings, making every day an adventure. Bugs is an active boy who's ready to accompany you on long walks, hikes, trips to the beach, and any adventure you can dream of.
Post-Adoption Life: With all animals it’s important to understand that going into a new environment with new people may not be as seamless as we want it to be. It’s important to know that these animals have unknown histories - most are left in the shelter by their owners. The information we have is from observing the animal’s behaviours & reactions to certain stimuli whilst in our care. Adopted animals can take up to 3 months to properly decompress from post-shelter life & a lot of behaviours & quirks may surface during this time. All that we ask is that their new owners have an open mind & are patient.
Adoption details
Please remember that the pets we have available sometimes come to us with no history, so we do our very best to get to know them while they are here and to match them to your home. Sometimes animals behave differently outside of the shelter environment, so please do keep in touch after adoption so that we can help you settle your new family member in and address any unexpected behaviours.
