About Billy Boy
PLEASE NOTE THAT UNFORTUNATELY WE ARE UNABLE TO FLY OUR ANIMALS EITHER WITHIN WA OR INTERSTATE
NAME: Billy Boy
BEFORE RESCUE: Came to SAFE Esperance as an owner surrender.
BREED: Lhasa Apso
BREED TRAITS: originating in Tibet this breed was used as an inside watchdog in monasteries and palaces working with Tibetan Mastiffs as an alert dog. Loyal companions, they are affectionate and protective of family but aloof with strangers. They have an independent air and can challenge the status quo if not given consistent training from the start. They are playful, have low exercise needs and are content with a few short walks or play sessions each day but their weight needs to be monitored. They require regular grooming.
***************************************************************
ASSETS: He's easy-going, friendly, obedient, sweet and playful! Billy didn't have the best start in life but he has a gorgeous nature and has settled well into foster care.
FAVOURITE THINGS: Billy is a little shy and aloof with people initially but once comfortable with them is a loveable happy boy. He loves the company of other dogs and enjoys playing with his various toys. He enjoys getting out and about in the car and travels well.
ENDEARING FEATURES: He has a loyal and loving nature and a very expressive face!
OTHER ANIMALS: He gets on well with other dogs and loves to play. He's also fine with cats, small animals and chickens.
GENERAL INFO: Billy walks well on his lead, is housetrained and will bark when someone is at the door. He can be aloof with people he doesn't know but does warm up after a while. He knows a few commands already and is a clever cookie so training should be a breeze with him. He will require regular grooming, and this may include trips to a professional groomer.
Billy Boy is a pure breed Lhasa Apso - his adoption fee is $2,000
ESSENTIALS for Billy:
** A quieter, active, loving home with someone who can be there with him for most of the day on a permanent basis or can take him with them when they leave the house.
** An owner who will dedicate time to training him and take him to classes where he can socialize and learn new things in a safe environment - he missed out on puppy training and would love to use his intellect.
** He's still a young dog so will need good daily exercise, playtime and mental activity. An active home that is willing to involve him in daily activities is essential for him.
** Billy needs a fenced, secure yard with grass and interesting things to sniff and explore.
**Billy loves to be with his people so he needs to be allowed inside the home when you are there and to sleep inside at night, preferably as close to his people as possible!
Billy could suit a home with older children (10+) who will be able to read his signals if he's feeling a bit overwhelmed, or an adult only home. He would love another dog with a similar energy level to live and play with or at the least have regular interaction with other dogs in a safe space.
