Back in 2020, Jodie jumped onto PetRescue to find a feline housemate for a friend who had sadly lost his beloved cat to illness.
What started as a search for one kitty ended with the adoption of two (and double the love!), when Jodie’s friend met the kitten, along with her brother, at their foster carer’s home:
“I came across a wee adorable female kitty who was available nearby, I made contact with the rescue group via the PetRescue website to find out more information and to set up a meet and greet with the kitten, my friend and myself.
When we met the original kitten, she had a little brother who was also staying with the foster carer. And my friend just fell in love with him too, so adopted both of them. We couldn't bear to separate them, they are little yin and yang cats. They’re now living their best life with my friend!”
Fast forward a couple of years later, Jodie felt ready to bring a feline friend of her own into her life.
One day while scrolling through her emails, a pet alert that she received from PetRescue caught her eye and changed everything!
Sweet little kitten Wolf’s adorable face stared out at her, and she clicked through to his adoption profile to read more about his story.

She reflects on her first impressions of Wolf’s adoption profile, who was in the care of the incredible rescue group Maneki Neko Cat Rescue:
“Not only was Wolf so adorable, his little face was so kind. His story was one I couldn't ignore, he had been through so much and was so scared.”

Jodie knew she had to send through an enquiry, which quickly led to setting up a meet and greet with Wolf.
“When I first met him, he wouldn't come out of his hiding spot, he would hiss and resist. You could see the terror in his sweet little face - he needed a safe space and someone safe to bond with.
He was so timid, but I knew he just needed some love and security. I immediately agreed to adopt him and took him home to start the slow process of building trust with him.” Jodie shares.

“Watching Wolf grow in confidence and the joy of his company has been the highlight of our adoption journey. His temperament was not what I thought I would adopt however I’m so glad I did! His little face is so kind, even though he had such a traumatic start to life.
The joy he brings from just being there and sleeping on my bed at night, knowing he is safe, is indescribable. I never thought I'd be the type of person to have pets on my bed, but here we are, and it's the best!”

Wolf is now living the dream with Jodie in her apartment - he even has his own bedroom filled with toys and climbing equipment, and he enjoys his play area in the living room. As he’s a shy kitty, Wolf thrives as a solo pet. However, Jodie has exciting plans to move to a larger place next year, where she plans to foster kittens to see how Wolf feels about having a furry housemate!
Jodie says about her experiences using PetRescue;
“The PetRescue site is very user-friendly, it’s easy to navigate and filter via various search criteria. You can easily search far and wide for available pets that match your personal requirements.”
These days, Jodie and Wolf enjoy a peaceful routine together. Wolf, still shy around visitors, loves chasing laser pointers and toys when it's just the two of them. He finds comfort in curling up by Jodie's feet near the heater at night and soaking up the sun on the window ledge during the day.
