New pet listing fields are here! It’s the first stage of the PetRescue Matchmakers Project - an exciting initiative that will revolutionise the way people search for their new furry family member online, and help lighten the workload for rescue groups.
The new listing and search options allow for more targeted matches covering:
- Kids under 5
- Kids under 6- 12
- Homes with a resident dog
- Homes with a resident cat
- Full-time workers (dog alone during work hours)
- Inside only cats
These options will effectively allow you to ‘exclude’ pets from certain searches - so that if you have a pet that’s, say, not suitable for kids under five, this pet will not appear in public searches made by those actively searching for a pet suitable for kids under five.
Once we get a majority of listings with these fields completed, we will be able to roll out the new features in the front end search. So it would be super if you could complete these fields on any new listings, and also on any existing listings for pets currently looking for homes.
The sooner you start using these fields, the sooner we will have the data needed to roll out the new search options to pet seekers. Which will mean more suitable enquiries for your pets, and a more manageable inbox for your rescue group.
