Kelpie man, Van, is one in half a million!
Kelpie man, Van, is one in half a million!
Beautiful, one-year-old kelpie boy, Vander (or Van for short) from Herd2Homes Dog Rescue was the 500,000th rescue pet to find a new family!
Not just a pretty face, with heart-melting eyes and head tilts, Van is a very smart, friendly and gentle boy. His foster mum said he was the most awesomely trained dog she’s ever had, but like many working dogs, Van needed to find an active family willing spend lots of time with him.
“I really want to find someone who is looking for a best friend and companion. A home where we do regular training or sports together would be perfect, as I’m a boy who loves mental and physical stimulation, and needs lots of interaction with humans.” said Van’s profile on the PetRescue website.
He didn’t have to wait long…
Within just four days of being listed on the PetRescue website, his adorable face was viewed over 600 times, he received 11 online adoption enquiries, and one was his dream come true…
“My husband is retired and at home with our three-year-old kelpie, Kenna, every day,” said Danuta in her email. “He takes her for long walks, usually at the dog beach in an off-leash area, so she gets to run and work off some energy. But we both believe she would really enjoy the company of another dog. Having had three working dogs before Kenna, we understand how intelligent and active they are, and how important it is for them to be mentally and physically stimulated.”
“We started looking for another dog by doing a Google search for working dog rescues,” said Danuta. “This lead us to the PetRescue website, where we came across Van! He looked so small, and had these huge ears and gorgeous eyes. I immediately knew he was the one for us.”
Herd2Homes didn’t waste any time and arranged a date for Danuta to have a meet and greet with Van. And BOOOOOOM!
“Van was very friendly and playful. We fell in love with him straight away, and took him home the same day!” said Danuta.
“When we came home, Kenna and Van took to each other straight away, and wore each other out playing. It was so nice to see them get along so well.
“We’ve taken them for a couple of long walks along the beach together, it’s so funny watching the two of them chase each other around in circles on the sand. Kenna, is so obviously overjoyed at having a little brother to play with, and share the blame when they get up to mischief.
“Van has completed our family. And it's great that Petrescue has helped to connect another 499,999 rescue pets with their perfect match too!”
We want to create a future where every pet is safe, respected and loved. Which is why we’re so proud to be working with more than 950 rescue organisations, and continuing to be the first connection for thousands of rescue pets and their new families every month.
