As part of your Best Friends Walk journey, your DIY Paw Print Kit is a special way to celebrate the bond you share with your pet and create a keepsake you’ll treasure for years to come.
Before you start
Set yourself (and your pet) up for success:
- Choose a calm moment
- Find a comfortable spot with a firm surface (like the floor, a table or a book
- Have a few treats ready for encouragement and reward
- If you can, ask someone to help
How to make your paw print

Gently press your pet’s paw onto the print surface
Hold their paw softly and press it down onto the paper or clay provided in your kit. A light, even press works best. - Lift straight up
Try to lift the paw cleanly to avoid smudging. - Repeat if needed
Don’t worry if the first one isn’t perfect, do a few prints and choose your favourite.
Top tips for the best result
Take a practice run
Before using your kit, gently hold your pet’s paw and practice the motion so they get used to it.
Use a helper
One person can comfort your pet while the other captures the print; this makes things much easier.
Keep it short and positive
A quick, calm experience works best. Reward your pet with a treat and plenty of praise.
