How PetRescue helped shine the spotlight on rescue pets
Pet adoption is now a mainstream way of acquiring a pet. However, for rescue pets, being seen as a loving family member wasn't always the case - rescue pets had a stigma.
Struggling to find recent homes for these pets, rescue groups relied on flyers and word of mouth to get the word out to encourage more people to adopt. And adopters that considered adopting were often disheartened at the idea of seeing pets locked up in pounds and shelters.
However, digital innovation that led to PetRescue.com.au changed things for these less fortunate pets. Over a span of 16 years since PetRescue started, rescue pets are now on every device across Australia, enabling thousands of adoptions every year in just a few clicks.

While advancing technology helped us bring rescue pets into the mainstream and create an easy avenue for pet adoption, we are now stepping back and looking at the bigger picture - to help save lives of thousands of pets being killed in pounds every year.
To solve this national crisis, we need inventive minds to come forward and help us create functional life-saving technology designed and built to help more pets in need, and stop the flow of pets going into a broken and flawed system.
There's so much we can do together to break the cycle for pets! Read more about our Safe and Sound Pounds program here to find out more.
