Are you a person who works or volunteers within the companion animal welfare and management sector (which includes foster carers)?
If so, we’d like to invite you to contribute to the annual State of Pet Adoption Report by completing the 2024 Sector Survey.
The survey is open to all folks working and volunteering within the pet adoption sector, this includes:
-
Rescue workers and volunteers, including those running rescue organisations
-
Not-for-profit and Council shelter workers and their volunteers, including those running shelters
-
Staff and volunteers from Council animal management facilities
-
Staff from Vet Clinics who run adoption programs
-
Foster carers
This year, PetRescue is working closely with researchers from La Trobe University (LTU) to build on the findings from last year and inform important research into the rescue and pet adoption sector.
Specifically, this year's Sector Survey focuses strongly on the impact that your role, and how your organisation functions, has on your mental health and personal well-being.
Sharing your experience as a person who works or volunteers within the companion animal welfare and management sector will help create positive change for the whole sector, and individuals like you!
Please feel free to share this survey with your friends and wider network in the pet adoption sector to participate.
Participation is anonymous to ensure that everyone feels comfortable having their say.
Survey now closed - thank you to all who participated.
You will need to complete the survey in one session. The estimated completion time is between 45 minutes to one hour, depending on how much detail you include and your role within your organisation.
About the State of Pet Adoption Survey & Report
The State of Pet Adoption Report is Australia’s first yearly sector-specific capture of nationwide insights and trends affecting the care and rehoming of unowned companion animals.
The State of Pet Adoption Survey aims to give people caring for unowned, stray and surrendered animals from across the country a voice to communicate about their work, the challenges they face, and their hopes for the future of the sector.
This survey is all about you and the animals you care for! The companion animal welfare and management sector in Australia is diverse, with people from all across the country contributing in both volunteer and paid roles to the care and rehoming of hundreds of thousands of pets each year.
We're gathering information about you, the organisation you work within or run, the challenges and barriers you face in your role, and your thoughts, feelings and learnings about what you do.
We will use this information with data collected from the PetRescue platform to build a picture of how the sector works that we can share with you, to help inform future practices, highlight opportunities for collaboration, and work together towards a future where all pets are safe, respected and loved.
Thank you for taking part.
