Celebrating doting cat dads on Fatherβs Day π±π
Step aside cat ladies, the cat lads are here...πΊπΊ
When they’re not busy winning the internet, cats are taking over the hearts and camera rolls of... you guessed it, MEN!
In the past decade, adopters from all walks of life have fallen head over heels for our feline friends. With cat adoptions on the rise, we love seeing all the cat lovers take over! π
Some of the amazing cat dads in the PetRescue Community sent through photos of their kitty besties for Father's Day... and we certainly weren't disappointed!
Meet the men who proudly wear the badge of doting cat dads:
π± Cat: Penny Lane
π±βοΈ Dad: Brad
"I love it when Penny Lane comes into the kitchen and jumps on my lap while I have breakfast every morning. And my favourite way to spend time with Bowie (my other cat) is taking him outside on his harness to explore the yard. Watching them play chase at full speed around the house is always fun and a little unpredictable.
We adopted Bowie one year after Penny Lane and it was the best decision we ever made, not just for us, but for both of them. They play hard and nap harder, one never further than a tail away from the other. If I could share any advice it'd be - the more the merrier."
π±π± Cats: Miko and Hiro
π±βοΈ Dad: George
“I like to cuddle them and play with them. It is also nice to just look at them and see them play with each other.
Cats are great company and can really help you get through tough times. When you do consider adopting, don't forget to look at older cats, not just kittens. The older ones deserve a loving home just as much and they will be forever grateful!”
π±π± Cats: Felix and Kofi
π±βοΈ Dad: Guy
“I love talking to them. Yes, I know they don’t talk back, but I love having a morning chat while I’m making coffee and getting set up for the day. If you are considering getting a cat, my advice is to just do it, (and get two). I was hesitant, we’d had three old dogs pass away in quick succession and I really didn’t think I wanted a cat. We ended up adopting two kittens and it was the best decision. I used to think I was a dog person, now I know I’m an animal person.”
π± Cat: Peppa
π±βοΈ Dad: Clive
“The silliest thing Peppa has done was when she found a new hiding spot in a flower pot. I was walking around calling her to see where she was, and after a while I saw this head stick up from the pot.
If you are getting a cat, be prepared to spend time with them and love them like your child and they will give you back so much.”
π± Cat: Otis
π±βοΈ Dad: Brad
“Snuggling his fluffy body brings me so much joy! He’s hilarious, especially when he tries to climb the walls and fly screens like a spider and then runs off growling.
My advice to adopters considering welcoming a cat into their homes is don’t underestimate the love they give to you, and how unique their personalities are.”
π± Cat: Millie
π±βοΈ Dad: Jake
“Cats make the best companions. No walking. No picking up their poop into a bag. Sometimes they play. Mostly they sleep. They’re the lazy man’s best friend.
My favourite thing to do with Millie is to take her for rides on the doormat. She gets on it and I tow her from one end of the house to the other, sliding her across the floorboards like she’s skiing on a glassy lake.”
π± Cat: Archie
π±βοΈ Dad: Jack
“I love cuddling him after a long day of work. His silly antics are hilarious! For example, when I try to stop him from running outside with my foot and he rolls over and flops onto it with his chonky body.
They change your life and your environment in a positive and wonderfully strange way.”
π± Cat: Crumpet
π±βοΈ Dad: Neil

“Anyone considering getting a cat? I say go for it! They give so much and ask for so little, but in turn you’ll end up spoiling them, just like all the other fellow cat lovers in the world.
And if there’s hesitation? Well, I’ve been a dog lover all my life and all it took was a little bit of fate to knock on my door and quickly find out just how amazing cats are.”
π± Cat: Avocado
π±βοΈ Dad: Sam
“I love coming home from work and snuggling with Avo! He can be mischievous at times, and does silly things like lose all the squash balls under the couch. But he’s the best. To anyone looking to adopt a cat, I’d say put your Nikes on and just do it. π”
π± Cat: Dexter
π±βοΈ Dad: Cam
ββ
“Cats give unconditional love, if you show a cat love and care, they will show it back to you. Our favourite thing to do is shake hands and eat scrambled eggs together.”
π± π± π± Cats: Rosemary, Bean & Luna
π±βοΈ Dad: Chris
"The great thing about being a cat dad is that they provide perspective! No matter what’s going on in your own life, or the world at large, there’s a little kitty that needs your love and attention, it’s very grounding. More cats is more of that, plus they keep each other company when you’re out (as a cat dad of 3, multiple cats is totally worth it!)"
Fix your cat-FOMO by jumping on the cat dad (or cat mum!) bandwagon and bring home a snuggly cat or two who’ll change your life! π±π±
