Since 2016, Campaspe Animal Shelter in Victoria has been using PetRescue's free adoption platform to reach more people looking for pets and to help pets in their care find homes quickly.
We spoke with Kate Kemp, Operations Manager at Campaspe, about why you should adopt and how Campaspe has used PetRescue to find loving homes for so many pets.

Adoption = the best option
Campaspe has a very open and flexible adoption policy, and their staff prefers to speak over the phone with potential adopters to hear about their home and the pet they’re looking for. They’re all about getting pets into loving homes as quickly as possible and getting them out of the stressful pound environment!
‘’I’d encourage anyone looking for a pet to adopt from a pound, shelter or rescue organisation. They’re already desexed, microchipped and vaccinated, so the hard work is done! They’ve also been assessed as suitable to be adopted.’’
Kate encourages anyone looking to adopt to carefully read each organisation’s adoption policy and processes and don’t get discouraged if you don’t hear back straight back.

How Campaspe has used PetRescue to find loving homes for pets.
“Using PetRescue and its huge reach allows more views of our animals nationwide and gives them a much bigger chance of being adopted. People don’t generally Google shelters and pounds that are out of their area, so it means that we have the ability to be seen by many. We also encourage all people looking to adopt to look on the PetRescue website because it has a huge database of pets in their area and is much easier than searching for and visiting individual websites.
PetRescue has been great because it’s just easy and is connected to Shelterbuddy. If I was having to upload everything individually, it just wouldn’t happen. It just works well.”
