We’ve heard from potential adopters that when listings go on hold, they’re unsure of whether the pet might be on hold for them, or what happens next.
This sometimes results in more enquiry emails, which defeats the purpose of less admin for you.
The auto-reply message is still 100% editable by you, we’ve just added some more text that could be helpful to the potential adopter/enquirer as to what it means and keep them encouraged along the way.
Here’s what’s changed:
✅ The suggested text in the autoreply message has been changed from “We'll get back to you with a further update as soon as we have one.” with more detail:
“This usually means the team is in the process of reviewing enquiries, supporting a potential adoption, or focusing on their individual needs (such as medical care or behavioural assessment). At this stage, we're not able to progress new enquiries, but we'll be in touch if anything changes or if we need more information from you. In the meantime, we encourage you to keep exploring other pets who are still available, there may be another wonderful match waiting for you.”
We'd love for you to take a look and explore the update for yourself when you place pets on hold.

We hope this results in fewer enquiries in your inboxes about what “on hold” statuses mean and more time for you to continue doing the vital work you do for pets in need.
As always, if you have feedback, we'd love to hear from you. Your input helps us continue to improve. Contact us on members@petrescue.org.au
