About Pooper Scoopers Pet Rescue
Born out of necessity and continued out of passion, Pooper Scoopers Pet Rescue was founded by a Registered Veterinary Nurse with a background in Shelter and Emergency Medicine and her naturally nurturing and caring animal-loving partner.
Prior to registering as PSPR, Jaz and Amelia had rescued around 56 pets from veterinary clinics and hospitals within the Perth Metro area in just 8 years. Owning a petsitting business and working within the veterinary industry, the pair saw the need for a rescue that could “bridge the gap” between vet clinics and hospitals, and larger rescues and councils. This led them to focus on helping the pets that find themselves ownerless and vulnerable in a veterinary setting; like the neonates that can’t feed or toilet themselves and are too young to stay overnight in a clinic alone, or the geriatric strays brought in without a microchip that wouldn’t make the cut at the pound. The sick cases that larger rescues don’t have the capacity for, or the chronically ill surrenders that deserve medical care when their owners can’t provide it for them.
Working alongside veterinary clinics and hospitals, PSPR strives to give these cases who risk being overlooked by larger organisations the chance they deserve through advocacy and by providing appropriate care. By operating in this way, the rescue aims to not only help vulnerable pets, but to also support the veterinary professionals who care for them. Every case is entrusted to the founders, whose knowledge, skills, and experience ensure each incoming pet is met with compassion, dignity, and ethical decision-making, with every choice centred on the animal’s welfare and quality of life. By providing a trusted alternative for these animals that may otherwise face euthanasia, PSPR hopes to reduce the number of pets euthanised while easing the emotional burden carried by veterinary teams. Through collaboration rather than competition, PSPR hopes to be the rescue that veterinary professionals confidently turn to knowing that their patients will receive the ongoing care they’d wish to provide themselves.
