This role involves management and husbandry of three feline colonies in Western Sydney, and other stray cats when necessary.
My responsibilities for these colonies include:
- Provision of food and water (I assist in financing these)
- Foster care for pregnant and nursing mother cats & kittens, individual adult cats and pairs including feeding and watering, providing litter supplies and cleaning these daily, enrichment activities and play especially with younger felines, veterinary checkups when necessary for illness or disease - veterinary care inclusive of vaccinations, desexing and microchipping services is also provided to all cats both in and out of foster care
- Vetting potential adopters and foster carers
- Providing advice to carers and adopters on health concerns, general wellbeing and nutritional requirements
- TNR services for cats unable to be fully socialised that are managed within the three main urban colonies
- Admin services such as animal record files for each cat in care, coordinating veterinary services for those in need, growing our social media presence and keeping track of financial records (invoices, vet visits, payments etc.)
