About City of Tea Tree Gully
Looking for a furry friend? The City of Tea Tree Gully, in partnership with the dedicated animal rescue group Scruffer Lovers, is the perfect place to find your new best friend.
At the City of Tea Tree Gully we generally impound fewer than 100 dogs in a year. Many are returned home before making it to the pound thanks to microchips and identification. Of those that do make it to the pound there are still more who are collected at a later time, but we also do get some dogs where no owners come forward.
In the past these dogs would have quickly moved on to nearby rescue groups but due to the re-homing struggles faced throughout Australia and shelters reaching capacity, we have had a number of long term residents.
Our Pooraka Pound facility is committed to providing a safe and loving environment for all animals in our care. With the expert care and compassion of Scruffer Lovers, we ensure that every animal receives the works before they go to their new home. All dogs are walked twice a day, reinforcing basic manners and provided with any veterinary care they may require.
