There are too many unwanted and abandoned dogs in Western Australia. At Dogs Behind Bars Rescue, we take these dogs and place them into foster care until their forever families are found. We are a Perth-based dog rescue with many years experience in dog rescue.
We all work full time and have families so please contact us by email as we have busy lives and do rescue work after hours and on weekends.
We rescue dogs from city and country pounds, abandoned and abused dogs, dogs left in kennels and try help in emergency dog care. We focus on providing comprehensive vet care and quality homes that will give the very best in care and love.
DBBR was established in 2016 by Natalie Plunkett. Natalie previously founded 'Desperate for Love Dog Pound Rescue' and has many years experience rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming dogs. She now works in partnership with Claire Bingham-Hardacre to run DBBR. Claire is very experienced with working breeds and has fostered and trained working breeds for many years. Together, they guide Dogs Behind Bars Rescue and make a great team.
Our small, passionate team of volunteers (led by Natalie & Claire) give their time to help unwanted dogs live better lives. We want to keep our team small to allow us to be more hands-on with carers and more effectively help dogs go to quality forever homes. All foster carers and adopters have a house visit to make sure the dog is the right fit.
Dogs Behind Bars is a non-profit rescue organisation, and all our funding comes from donations & fundraisers. Several of the dogs in our care require urgent vet care, and any donations made to our rescue would be put towards helping these dogs recover so they can find their forever family! All money gained from adoption fees and donations goes towards veterinary work and training costs to help more dogs.
** ALL OF OUR VOLUNTEERS WORK FULL TIME JOBS IN ADDITION TO WORKING WITH DBBR. PLEASE EMAIL OR TEXT TO CONTACT **
