About Callie
CALLIES LIFE CHANGING SIMPLE TWIST OF FATE đ
Introducing- Callie đ
Being a plain tabby in a world of colourful revered fancy cats is not a curse, but it certainly doesnât put one at the top of the popularity ladder either⊠especially when youâre a stray teen mum doing it tough with a baby in tow on the harsh streets of Adelaide.
TABBIES ARE THE HARDEST RESCUE CATS TO REHOME đ„Č
Callieâs story is however a beautiful one- one involving a chance meeting in the surrender room at a major adelaide shelter.
We were at the AWL collecting another cat ( we often work with the AWL team) when a non English speaking mother and daughter came in with a juvenile kitten in a trap. The kitten was thrashing around and was obviously unsocialised, and well beyond the age of easy socialisation. We took one look at that naughty teenager and knew it would need a substantial amount of intervention to get the kitten to a level where becoming a friendly house cat and member of someoneâs family would be possible. A quick word was had with the AWL team, paperwork was signed, and the teenager was officially transferred to ginger ninja!
We left with an extra kitty that fateful dayâŠ
Next day we received a call to say the kittens teenage mum had been brought in. Would we take her too?
Saying no was not on the cards.. we welcomed Callie into GNR with open arms and reunited this young street mum with her baby.
Callieâs baby actually came around quickly and was adopted. She was the âprettierâ of the two⊠Callie was , like every other tabby, ignored and left behind.
Callie spent time in foster care, needing extra vet work done(dental) . She is now a changed woman and is ready for a home of her own. After a tumultuous start on the streets, this girl has learned to love. She is now super affectionate and intelligent, she just needs someone to treat her like the Devine tabby tiger she has becomeâŠ
PLEASE CONSIDER WELCOMING CALLIE INTO YOUR HOME.
Once youâve had tabby- you wonât go back⊠đ
A few words from her carer-
âThis gorgeous girl doesn't mind her human slaves. She comes when I call her, loves head pats and playing with her toys. She tolerates most love but will let you know when itâs time to stop and give her space( itâs good to know your boundaries đ)
She does really enjoys being outside in her cat run, so she would ideally want a home where she has a cat yard where she can play in the sun.â
Callie is best suited to a home with perhaps only one other cat. She currently shares her foster home with 5 other cats and has a room of her own. She will tell her foster mum when she would like to come out, and go back in again by getting her to follow her to the door. Who doesnât like a girl that knows what she wants and isnât afraid to ask for it!
