About Zarzu
Hi my name is Zarzu and I'm a cheeky, energetic, affectionate young kelpie mix mix! I love to run and play and I'm ball obsessed! I'm one of the only dingoes at the shelter who knows how to fetch.
I'm good in the car, though I'll need some practice for long trips.
I'm house trained and will hold on during the night provided you take me outside for a toilet break before bed and first thing in the morning.
I walk well on lead and know how to sit and lie down. I'm working on learning to shake. I love treats and I'm very intelligent and motivated to learn, so with lots of positive reinforcement training my new owners could teach me just about anything!
I'm good with kids, but because of my size (18kg) and boisterous playful nature, kids over 5 would be best.
I like other dogs, but need slow introductions and would not be suitable to go to a busy dog park as groups of dogs can be overwhelming for me (like most dingoes!)
NOTES:
Being a dingo Zarzu is not suitable to be let off-leash in unfenced areas as she will not come back/does not always have reliable recall. Dingoes should be kept on a leash outside your yard. Like all dingoes, Zarzu has a high prey drive and is not suitable to live with cats, pocket pets or birds unless they can be kept entirely seperated. Zarzu cannot live in an apartment.
Fencing requirements:
Zarzu is a dingo mix, which means she needs secure 1.8m fencing and the base of your fence may require dig proofing i.e. pavers or sleepers.
Adoption details
Please note at this time pending legal advice we are unable to offer fox kit adoption to private owners.
Dingo Adoption:
1. Send an email inquiry with your name and contact details outlining your current living situation, pets and family members and anything else you think might be relevant, particularly what your house and yard are like. Remember our dingoes typically require an enclosure or modified fencing.
2. We will email you back adoption information and an application form to fill out and return to us.
3. If your application is approved- Come along to meet us and our dingoes at our Goulburn shelter or their foster carers' home and let us find the right furry family member for you. We can also come to you. We are happy to meet new prospective owners anywhere in NSW or the ACT.
4. Before you can pick up your new dingo you will also need to under a house/yard check and pay your adoption fee. No animals are rehomed unless their adoption fee is paid in full and a yard check has been completed.
