About Audrey
Audrey was surrendered by her owner to the Rangers, because she was ‘always having puppies.’
When the Rangers noticed her extremely misaligned jaw (see in one photo) he asked the owner what was wrong. The owner replied that one of his kids must have accidentally kicked her.
Audrey was taken to the vet, who said her jaw was badly broken and she would need to be seen by a specialist vet, once coming into care with us.
Once seen by the specialist, Audrey had X-rays and a CT scan and the horrific state of her jaw was revealed. It was an old injury caused by heavy blunt force trauma, and a large portion of the bone of her lower jaw had reabsorbed and simply wasn’t there. Because of the injury Audrey could barely eat. The teeth on the opposite side were rotten and needed to be removed, along with the teeth floating in nothing where there was no bone.
Once Audrey had recovered from this dental procedure, she underwent surgery again to mend her jaw.
She had a metal plate and pins inserted and a bone graft from her shoulder to aid bone growth in the area with no bone.
Great news!! The surgery was a success and bone is growing back!!
Audrey can now eat anything she likes, and she is!!
The alignment isn’t 100% but it’s jolly good. Surgeons are happy and so is Audrey that she can now look for her forever home.
So let me tell you......this gal is a 1 in a million dog. She is super happy. She is friendly, both with dogs and people. She absolutely loves being part of a family and is at her happiest when near her human. She very rarely barks. She loves being out and about for walks or drives in the car.
She is 100% toilet trained and uses the doggie door with ease.
As she is a long legged gal and can jump, good fencing is a must.
