About Baba ~ 1.5yr Old Kelpie X (On Trial 20/2/21)
Hi, I’m Baba. I’m a 1.5-year-old male Kelpie x Red Cattle Dog. Due to a change in
circumstances, I find myself looking for a new furever home. I would benefit from a more active family who love to walk, or run... and rub my belly and give LOTS of cuddles!
I can be very excitable, so care around meeting small children is needed (I was raised with a very young child), I will need a medium-large grassy yard with high fences and secure gates. I’ve been watching my weight since just before I came into foster care and because of this, I need to continue to have plenty of exercise and good portion control.
I am a handsome boy who is still learning how to behave like the best doggo I can be. My foster sister has been a great help with this, showing me how to be patient, play with toys and playing chasies and giving BIG kisses. Unfortunately, she has encouraged me in my digging and in chewing things I shouldn’t (she must think it’s funny), I’m learning not to do this though. I do have a thing with plastic bowls, but I swear! The water bowl just exploded on its own! (Recommend metal and heavy bowls)
Because I am still learning I will need a family who will be patient with me, understand and work on my behaviours. Continued training is a must, I know most of the basic commands, but I just don’t like to listen; I can take a little more time than most to listen. I also like to jump up, even though I know I’m not allowed. I’m also not too playful. I like to run around, but I mostly like to snuggle excitedly. I may be more interested in games if I no longer have another dog pal.
I would prefer a family who will include me in their life and will shower me with love and affection! I am a good with kids. Before I came into foster care, I had a young toddler at home, whom I was very good with. They were just on 1 when I came home. It’s not a must, but if I could have another dog at home it would be great! One who has high energy to play with me and run around, but also be able to put up with me when I get TOO affectionate. (I can be a bit much).
I currently sleep outdoors with 1 other dog, in a kennel with LOTS of blankets. I spend most of my day outside so I can run around! Before that I was an outdoor dog by myself. I am not used to being inside and get a little jumpy and submissive. I am still not fully trusted to be left
unattended as I am not toilet trained that well as I’m used to outside.
I currently live with a small rat that I am VERY curious about! I can only have supervised time through the cage as my breed instincts are strong around pocket pets. When I go inside, I am very timid around the 2 large cats that are there. But I try not to mind them any attention.
PLEASE NOTE: Please be aware that Kelpies shed hair heavily (so the vacuum will get a good run!) and will need regular brushing/grooming for their comfort and good health. If you have allergies to dogs or dog fur, we would not recommend your home for Baba.
Baba is located within the Hunter Valley area NSW. For more information on Baba contact Audrey at ajodonn1912@outlook.com or fill out the adoption form here https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt
