About Poppy
Heya. My name is Poppy.
I am a small, feisty terrier cross, who packs a lot into my 10kg! I am a special case who needs training to have a second chance at a happy life.
My foster carer isn’t quite sure what trauma I have gone through in the past, but I become very anxious when visitors come to the house, extra especially when they are men, so I anxiously bark and try to protect my female carer. It’s important to know I have nipped a few people while being moved around a bit lately but I am hoping you can turn this behaviour around with me. Currently I feel nervous when I’m on a lead and I do react aggressively towards other dogs so I need some help with this too please. My carer wants to find me a female-only home, with no kids, no other pets and with someone who is a confident dog trainer who has lots of time to give me, and who has experience with troubled souls like me…. I need my new boss lady to set boundaries for me in a loving way.
I’m a super smart gal who is toilet trained and who loves her crate! I will happily sleep through the night in my crate and go back into my crate for daytime naps. My carer has been managing my anxiety by keeping me crated when visitors come over until I settle down, but, unfortunately I let my anxiety get the better of me sometimes and I forget my manners when I am feeling stressed.
I need a lady owner who is prepared to invest the time to train me everyday so I can be the goodest girl I can be. I am happy to nap most of the day, and don’t mind if you go out for a while but I do love a good long walk everyday to stretch my legs and have a sniff. I am a loving pet who is eager to please but really needs to find the right female owner with the patience and training so my second chance is finally my forever home and my happily ever after.
