About Darcy
Hello everyone, my name is Miss Darcy, and this is my story.
The first time my foster Mum saw me was a picture on a pound site of a very scared little black cat hunched up in the corner of a cubicle which the pound said had “ lived a very tough life” on the streets. I was due to be euthanasied.
This picture broke my foster mums heart and she asked Silver Lining Pet Rescue to put a save on me immediately.
When I arrived in my foster home I spent months hiding under the bed in a room on my own and would only come out at night to eat and use the litter box. That didn’t matter my foster Mum said. You take as much time as you need. You are safe now and you will come to realise that.
The first time I came out from under the bed to eat while my foster Mum when in the same room made her smile. When I started to rub against her legs and look for pats made her cry.
Now I spend my time with everyone else in the house. I sleep in my fosters Mum room, in my basket or on the bed. We have 2 dogs here and I even tolerate them. I get on very well with all the other cats , and love to look after the new fosters especially the baby kittens. I so much wanted to love and be loved, it just took me time to leave my fears behind from my old life. I feel I can do that now, and it’s time for me to find a home of my own.
I am hoping to find a home that has an understanding that even though I have come so far I will need time to adjust to new surroundings. It may take time for you to earn my trust, but I can assure you that when I do I will make you a wonderful life companion.
(Please note: all our cats/kittens are adopted as inside only)

Adoption Process
We send out our application to the new potential family and when our forms are returned we start a process called screening. When we have finished our screening and all information that comes back is approved. We do a meet and greet, sometimes more than two. If all parties are happy, we then allow our foster furkid go into your home. After 3 weeks (for dogs) / 6 weeks (for cats) sometimes more, see how everyone is going, then we change over microchip registration if everything is great.
