On Hold
About Pearl
Pearl thinks everyone is her friend. On walks, she’s still learning that not everyone she meets wants to pat her and tends to get a bit over-excited around other dogs. But, her manners are improving and she’s learning to settle for a quick sniff and move on. She enjoys two 20-30 minute walks a day and gets a bit stir crazy if she doesn’t get her daily exercise in! She loves running and would like to have a backyard she can do zoomies in.
Pearl experiences in a bit of mild separation anxiety, which manifests in kleptomania. Upon arriving home from a day out, her owners are likely to find a number of their possessions neatly piled on Pearl’s bed. She won’t destroy them; she’ll just hoard them like an anxious antiques collector until she can have company again. The less attention she gets, the most she steals, sorry, borrows.
Apart from this cheekiness, Pearl is a complete angel. She’s adjusted to life as a pet with very few issues and is well and truly ready to find a place to call her own. She’s a extraordinarily sweet girl with a heart of gold. Gentle and kind, Pearl will be worshipped by whoever is lucky enough to adopt her.

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
After the trial period is deemed successful, the adoption process is finalised.
