About Tabitha
Our longest resident cat (8 months and counting...), miss Tabitha has not had an easy journey. Arriving off the street, a young mum but with no kittens in tow, Tabs spent long months scared of people and terrified of the shelter, hiding away in a little corner in the cattery. Luckily a staff member (and now her shelter mum) saw potential in her to be a great cat, and she was swept away into a foster home for 3 months, where we saw a beautiful personality emerge! Tabs LOVES to play - she adores her tunnel, her spinny toys, her star puffs, jingly balls and even old towels and scrunched up paper. She will run up and down the stairs like a mad cat! She is neat and always uses her litter, and comes out from her snuggle spots when you’re home to have a long chat as she munches on cat grass, arches tall with happiness, purrs and bops her head on the couch and plays about on the floor. She’s amazing with other animals and took a real shining to the foster home dog. While Tabs was not the most physically affectionate cat in a home, we did make progress with the boops, rubs and pats. She adores her snacks and treats and with the right person guiding her (and maybe another cat friend) Tabs would be a truly awesome little house cat. Unfortunately coming back to the shelter to help find her a fur-ever home has been incredibly difficult for Tabitha (and her shelter mum - many tears were cried). No longer does she play and flop about with happiness, but she curls up scared and stressed in her condo. She will still meow and chat but her favourite toys have gone unplayed with. It’s heartbreaking, but we will persevere and help Tabitha to flourish while she waits for her new home. We hope that the right person will see through her fear and stress and take a chance on her, just like we did.
