About Phillipa
Hi there, I'm Phillipa, but you can call me Philly for short!
I'm a very sweet and gentle girl with the most wonderful set of ears - you can be sure no treats get opened in my house without me knowing about it!
I'm looking for a kind family to teach me all about the good life. I can be a bit timid about new things, you see, and to help me find my confidence I'll need you to let me take things at my own pace. Once I start coming out of my shell with you, you'll see just how much love I've got to give.
I'm still learning about going on walks and I can get a little bit overwhelmed if there's too much going on around me, so I think I'd prefer a home in the suburbs, maybe with a backyard where I can hang out instead if I prefer.
While I wait for my perfect furever home, I'm living it up with my amazing foster family, who are so proud of how well I'm doing! I'm happily sharing my home with a few houndie pals, and I wouldn't mind sharing my forever home with a houndie friend too. I'm ever so affectionate and love a cuddle in the morning. I'm proving to be quite an accomplished roacher too, so watch out because if you take me home you might mistake me for a goofy kangaroo!
A note from Philly's foster family
Philly is such a quirky girl who is still coming out of her shell.
She is a snuggle bunny, she would happily snuggle on your lap if you let her, she loves her humans. Her tail wags so much it could whack you right out of the way. She makes us laugh all the time with her quirks. She wakes you up in the morning singing for her breakfast & at dinner time she gives you a lick on every single finger until you give in to feed her.
I think Philly would be ok if left on her own for extended periods of time. She is fine if we leave her home alone to go out on the weekends, but she does have the company of our two hounds. She does not have any sleep startle or resource guarding.
Philly's new home must be with someone who understands greyhounds and their quirks, as Philly has a lot of them. Patience is a must, because she is still getting the hang of walks and unexpected things (like birds, cats or possums) can send her over her threshold, causing her to freeze. Her family will need to go slow with her and be prepared to give her time away from walks when she needs it. A walk with her cannot be rushed and taking some chicken with you is a must.
Philly's ideal home would be one with a backyard in a quiet area. She has coped really well in our area walking on main roads but a chilled life is probably best for this girl. She is friendly with children, but would prefer a home without kids under 12 as she can be a little boisterous and jumpy when she's excited! Philly needs someone with lots of love and patience to give, who is willing to continue training her.
Philly is friendly with other dogs and wouldn't mind sharing her home with a doggie friend, but I think I think she would be just as happy in a house without any other dogs if she had humans at home with her.

Adoption details
All of Greyhound Rescue's adoption and foster placements are on a case-by-case basis. We go to great lengths to match each dog with their new family to make sure that both dog and family are happy. We offer post-adoption support to our rescue community so that each adoptive family and hound are cared for.
We will send you an application form to complete and return. Then we will arrange a house check. It is important that the right hound goes to the right home! We can arrange for you to meet the dog/s and they can meet your family and/or other pets. Our hounds go “on trial” with your family for a minimum of 2 weeks.
Greyhound Rescue's adoption fee is $420. All our hounds are desexed, vaccinated, microchipped, flea and worm treated, and heartworm tested and treated. The adoption fee also includes our New Adopter Kit - collar, leash, muzzle and loads of other goodies to help you get your new hound settled into the family.
