About Shepherd
ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS -- CURRENT TANK SET UP (Measurements in below bio) WITH PHOTOGRAPHS -- SOME TURTLE KNOWLEDGE
Meet Shepherd and Sloane! Two little turtle brothers who've found their way to us by no fault of their own. These guys, while they are currently living with one another, do not need to be re-homed together. Turtles are fairly solitary animals, but can live together if introduced at a young enough age. They make fun and interesting pets to keep, but do require special equipment in their tanks like UVA and UVB bulbs, water heaters and filters, and places where they can dry dock. At this current point in time, with the size of these guys, their ideal tank size would be between 3-4ft in length, and about 2ft wide, to allow for swimming and growing room. Their new owners will need to keep in mind that as these guys continue to grow, new tanks may need to be purchased to accommodate their size. It is very important that anyone considering adopting one (or both) of these boys has researched thoroughly into the care of Eastern Long Neck Turtles to ensure that they are prepared to take them on (as they can live up to 50 years in captivity!)
Following Government guidelines during the COVID19 Pandemic we are reducing foot traffic at our Shelter. If you are interested in meeting this animal with a view to adoption - please follow this link; http://www.rspca-act.org.au/adoption-appointments and complete an online application.
