Hi my name is Pringle! I am a lovely girl who was abandoned by my owner in the council pound. We don't know why, but given the fact I wasn't in very good shape when I arrived (fleas, bad teeth, mucky eyes, not desexed) we think it is pretty safe to say, I was not the problem! When my time in the pound was up and euthanasia was approaching, thankfully Off The Chain stepped in to save me. I was very scared in there, but quickly came round once I entered OTC care.
I am a mix-breed, likely bull arab in there. I am fully grown at 35kg. I currently live with 2 teenaged female dogs who I get along great with! To start with I was a little standoffish and would growl at them to keep them away from me- but it was discovered on my second day in care at my vet check, that I had some very sore teeth that needed to be removed! I was quickly desexed and had these teeth removed, and I have been great ever since. I just needed to not be in pain anymore, and realise that I was safe. The other dogs and I are now thunder buddies, tug-a-war opponents, snack fiends and best buds together!
I have learned basic commands, including come, sit, drop, stay, inside, outside and wait. I know not to go into the kitchen when food is being prepared, and am learning how to walk on a leash. My leash skills are still coming along, but they'll get there! I sleep outside at night on the deck in my kennel or on my hammock bed, but my house training is great. I don't get into things I shouldn't, and I'm toilet trained. I rarely bark, usually only when the dog next door starts- and a simple command has me quietly going back to my kennel to mind my own business again. I live with 2x full time working adults who work a varied roster- so I am used to entertaining myself during the day. I have not met cats but my neighbours let theirs roam (insert facepalm here) and I can't stand that- so we think maybe cats and I are not friends.
I am a loving, friendly girl who has clearly not had the best life until now. I need a stable, structured and loving home who will work with me as I continue to blossom into a happy, obedient and loved doggo. I thrive off structure and boundaries - if you let me run the show, I will! But I am much happier when my humans are responsible and take charge. I would prefer not to live with children as I have not been tested with them and do prefer to have my space at times. I currently live behind a 6ft fence and would like a similar fence in my new home. I will look forward to daily leashed walks and games in the backyard. I have medium energy levels, travel well in the car, and am well behaved at the vet.
So what do you think? Could we be a perfect match?
Adoption details
Before applying, please consider and finalise the following: real estate approval, fence repair if needed, outside shelter areas and look into the dog's breed dietary requirements eg large breed vs medium breed.
Once you are ready to adopt, please complete the OTC Adoption Application questionnaire below. This is not a contract or agreement of any kind, just an expression of interest in the animal. We will not authorise meets unless this has been completed and only approved applications may meet the dogs. Once you are approved and have submitted all relevant information, we will organise for you to meet the dog at your home, or in a public place. If you have other animals they must be at the meet.
If at the meet, you and the dog get along- you have the option of either taking the dog on the spot (in exchange for the full adoption fee paid upfront, and contract signed)- or placing the dog on hold for up to 2 days without any holding fee applicable. When adoption begins you will be provided with 7 days' worth of food for the dog, as well as what brand and type of food it is, so that you may change their diet carefully and slowly, or purchase more, if needed.
*PLEASE NOTE we do not hold dogs for 3 days or longer, without a non-refundable holding deposit of $100. If you are unwilling to put a deposit on the dog, we will continue to advertise and speak with other potential adopters and so you may miss out. We have had to make the deposit non refundable to avoid time-wasters, especially when it comes to puppies under 5 months of age. The $100 holding deposit is then subtracted from the outstanding adoption fee, which is to be paid at collection of the dog. Eg if full adoption fee is $450, and you pay a $100 holding fee so we can hold the dog for a week- the day you collect the dog you will sign and adoption contract, and pay the remaining $350 fee of which $50 is non-refundable.
During the trial period, should the pet become ill, you must present it to the OTC-approved vet clinic in your area and OTC will cover any treatment needed.
On commencement of the trial period, OTC will send you a copy of your signed contract, the vaccination cards, desexing certificate and microchip number implant details.
So. Ready to roll? Then fill out the attached short form, and we will be in contact to successful applicants asap. Feel free to follow us up via Facebook page inbox.
