About Storm
So, guess what? I bet you never anticipated that today would be the day you would read my profile and your life would be immediately better, did you? I'm single and ready to mingle! I'm a stunning female of pure blood (Rottweiler, to be precise), and I am ready to get myself out there and find my 'happily ever after'. I'm in my prime at only one year old, and if my spectacularly beautiful face doesn't make you fall in love with me, my vivacious and affectionate personality will certainly do the trick! So, there's a term that;'s been bandied about when describing me: 'special needs'. Well, I certainly agree that I am very special, and that I deserve to be fostered by a very special person, so I'm ok with that terminology :-) My life so far has been far from easy; I've faced a lot of issues that other rescue dogs and puppies will be familiar with. I was purchased from a pet store in Brisbane at just nine weeks old. I was vetted by my original owner and had specialists look into my 'issues'. X-Rays revealed I needed to have what the humans call a Femoral Head Osteotomy (FHO) to salvage my hips on both sides, followed by some at-home therapy/stretching. Femoral Head Osteotomy is a type of hip surgery involving the removal of the femur bones head and neck, which sounds very scary, but luckily for me, the rescue and a team of vets are working together to improve my quality of life and give me a chance. Considering I'm only one year old, I have been through a lot and am looking forward to healing and enjoying the life I deserve to have.
The rescue is committed to paying for my procedures and care, but we need the help of a dedicated carer who has no stairs and can remind me that I need to stay fairly quiet and chill, and to give me lots of cuddles. Also, you will need to be able to take me to and from my vet at Park Ridge as required, and keep me until I am all healed and ready for adoption. This means I am what the humans call a 'long-term' foster, and you will need to be able to commit to having me until I am all healthy and healed. My rescue humans think that since you will most likely fall madly in love with me, they are willing to consider a foster-to-adopt if we are the perfect match. It's important that you don't have any other dogs at the moment, as I get very excited to have someone to play with, which will slow down my recovery and could cause further injury.
