About Nancy
Meet Nancy,
Nancy is all things crazy in the best possible way.
Nancy had virtually no human contact before coming into foster care so is understandably nervous around new people and in new places but we are working on this and she gets better everyday.
Once you’ve gained her trust with lots of yummy treats and love this girls spicy little personality emerges in full force.
Nancy is all things working dog. Her breed make up is all different working breeds. She often gets mistaken for a foxy type mix but she has absolutely no foxy in her.
She is very vocal when in working mode and always switched on and busy.
Nancy didn’t know what toys were before foster care but now that she does, She loves a great game of fetch or tug and takes it very seriously!
She often plays ball aswell
Nancy has learnt to sleep in her crate of a night and sleeps through the night perfectly.
The crate is her safe place and she will go in there when feeling overwhelmed.
Nancy is an incredibly loyal and affectionate dog with her foster mum! She loves to wind down at the end of the day and settle in for snuggles.
Nancy loves to chase the resident cat however with further training she should be ok around them as she has made huge improvements.
Nancy is in care with a large and medium size dog and gets along very well with both of them. She does have some possessive behaviour around food and other dogs due to her previous life but it’s being worked on and she is responding well to all training.
Nancy would love another high energy well balanced dog to live with however another dog is not a deal breaker as long as you can meet her socialisation needs.
Due to her timid nature Nancy needs an experienced owner who is capable of building her confidence further. When applying please advise how/what you will do in terms of building her confidence.
She is coming along amazingly in foster care however we do expect when she is adopted that she is going to be set back slightly with the move.
Nancy would absolutely love a big yard or even a rural/semi rural home. She really needs a home who truely understands owning working dogs with high drive and can help her reach her potential.
Inner city/ apartment and units are NOT
Suitable for Nancy due to her barking whilst in working mode and extremely high energy.
Nancy needs more then a daily walk she needs mental stimulation
Being in an average pet home where she will be under stimulated will only lead to her having behavioural issues.
Nancy is a part of the family and loves being with her humans she is not a backyard only dog
She will follow her foster mum around the house. She needs a home where she will be included and allowed inside
Nancy is not suitable for dog parks this would completely overwhelm her and set her training back.
Nancy has a lot to learn about the world and needs a family to show her how much fun the world is. This will take time and lots of training/confidence building.
Due to her timid nature she is not suitable for young children
When applying for Nancy please address the following
* What experience you have with working dogs
* How you would socialise her
* If your experienced with building confidence in timid dogs/or what trainer you’d seek help with
*How you can meet her needs with exercise and mental stimulation
I can absolutely guarantee you this girl is well worth the extra effort in building confidence: she is incredibly affectionate and loyal
