About Shelly ~ 8 wk Husky x On Trial 14/11/20
Hi I'm Shelly, a female 8 week old Siberian Husky X Bull Arab puppy. Yes,I know... I'm stunning!. If there was a run-way, I'd be prancing down it and getting up to mischief in the process. Like a typical husky I’m a busy girl and want to be a part of the action (wherever that may be!)
Given our breeds, me and my siblings Maverick and Magic Mike are a pretty intelligent, active and adventurous bunch of bubbas. I would LOVE a friendly, energetic, medium sized male dog to play with in my new home - your existing dog should be out of puppy stage so that he can be a role model for me and my development. Not too old though as senior dogs will find my puppy playfulness way too much! No chickens or pocket pets please as huskies like me are known for their high prey drive.
I will be best suited to a home with a couple who adore arctic breed dogs and have lots of canine experience. I’m not suited to a home with young kids as I have sharp puppy teeth and you will be too busy trying to catch up with me to spend any time on two legged kids! A home with teenagers older than 16+ years who are confident with arctics and active dogs would be OK though.
Before applying for me or one of my siblings I have some questions for you to consider:
-Have you thought about loving and caring for me for the next 12-15 years - maybe even longer ?
-I am a furever dog not just a COVID dog
-I won’t be a tiny puppy for long and will get up to mischief as I become a teenager. Are you ready for that?
-Have you thought about my extra puppy meals throughout the day?
-Will somebody be home more often than not to keep me socialised? I can’t be left at home whilst you go off to work 8 hours a day
-I am proving to be a climber and escape artist already so do you have solid and tall fencing (6 foot colourbond) to keep me safe?
-I won’t suit an apartment , courtyards or a small yard. I need a medium to large yard to play and rumble in!
-Have you thought about my ongoing physical training and mental stimulation (enrichment games) so that I don't get bored and destructive?
-Will I have access to inside at all times to ensure that I am a part of your family?
-Have you had a husky before? I’m only suited to a home experienced with the breed already.
-Are you highly active? (as you’re going to need to be to keep up with a sassy girl like me! )
I'm watching and learning from you from the moment I open my eyes. Being inside means that I will learn what leads to praise and reward and what doesn't. Being under supervision also means I learn boundaries (crucial as I grow older) and means I am less likely to develop nuisance behaviours due to boredom.
If you are experienced with arctics and you’re keen for an active adventurer like me then please email Jo on rescuepooch75@gmail.com . I’m located near Maitland (west of Newcastle). You can also fill out the adoption questionnaire here https://tinyurl.com/drnadopt
As I am not yet desexed, I am only available for adoption to Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Central Coast and Port Stephens areas as I must visit our rescue vet for desexing when I am approximately 5 months old. Exceptional Sydney based adoptions will only be considered upon approval. I am NOT available for long distance or interstate adoption.
My adoption fee is $600 which covers my desexing, vaccination, microchipping, flea and worming treatments. You can see all of our available dogs at www.dogrescuenewcastle.com.au

(2) If the questionnaire is approved you can arrange to meet the pet, usually at the foster carer's home or nearby.
