On Hold
About Charlie - Located in Braybrook
Charlie is a ten year old handsome gentle fella who has found himself in need of a comfortable loving home to spend his senior years.
He originated from a multi-cat household and came into care with a very badly infected mouth. Post dental surgery he's spent his time healing and adjusting to life free of pain and of the chaos that comes from living with many other cats. Initially a little nervous in foster care with yet more cats to navigate he has settled in quite well after a short while. He enjoys the simple things in life; catnip, naps, pats and then he'll go for a gallop around the house to blow off steam. He loves to retreat into his cat cave when he's not asking you sit beside him and watch him eat or give him pats.
Since it has taken a little while to warm up to the resident felines where he needs to nervously assert himself he would possibly live alongside others cats if they are younger and easy-going non-dominate types or preferably as an only cat. He is a senior after all and deserves some respect. He has ignored (with caution) the cat-friendly dogs so he's a adaptive fella considering he's lived 10 years in one home but at this point is best to be supervised around doggies. He'd love a comfortable home where he can live his senior years in the company of humans. He likes his space so is not suitable for children and would be best in a household of adults only. He has a lot of love to give and has been a gentleman to have in foster care.
Before applying to meet one of our cats, please ensure that you:
- have the agreement of all members of the household to adopt a Cat,
- have your landlords permission to keep a pet. More information on what to do is available at https://www.consumer.vic.gov.au/housing/renting/applying-for-a-rental-property-or-room/pets-and-renting
- you have all the necessary bits and pieces to welcome your new family member, starting with a cat carrier to bring them home, a litter tray, litter, food and bowls as well as a bed, toys and scratchers, and
- you are ready to welcome them home NOW. We are unable to hold a cat for you if you are not ready to adopt.
IMPORTANT NOTE - COVID19 PRACTICES
Due to the current lock down in Melbourne we once again need to do things a little differently!
Once you have applied for a cat in our care our foster carer will contact you by telephone. If at the end of this discussion you would like to proceed, we will then arrange an online meet n greet with the carer and cat.
If you think this cat might be your PURRFECT match we will be utilising our premises at Neko HQ in Preston for the final meet n greet and if agreed adoption as our carers are unable to have guest in their homes. We ask that only one person from the family attend, and that all COVID safe practices are followed to ensure your health and that of our volunteers as well as the general community.
We thank you for your patience throughout this process.
