About Bart
G’day, my name is Bart, and I am a failure. You see, my destiny was to be a worker, a farmers’ right-hand man, a cattle wrangler. That is what my parents and their parents before them had done and the expectations on me were high to take over the family business. It was pretty evident early on that I was not like the rest of my family. Despite everyone’s high hopes, I always felt like my future would be somewhere else, not in the dust and dirt but I didn’t know that dogs were allowed to just be pets. When the farmer realised that I would never be any help around the farm, my life became sadder and smaller as I stayed on my chain. On the farm, only the best workers get off their chain and get to go and run around. I was an embarrassment to my family and the farmer, and I was ashamed of myself. One day, some girls came and got me and drove me a long way. The farm grew further and further behind us and I became both terrified and excited. Was this the chance that I had been waiting for? Was my life on the chain over? When we arrived, I saw the sticker on the door that said, “Karma’s Place rescue”. I had no idea what that meant but I was taken inside! I have never been inside before. I knew that when I walked in that building, there was no going back. My whole world is new and open and full of treats and pats. I am still learning to relax and enjoy being spoiled but I am loving all the walks and yummy food. I do still get scared sometimes but it has only been a couple of weeks, so I think that I am adjusting to retirement pretty well. I am very tolerant of other dogs, even those little cranky ones who want to bite me and I totally ignore the cats. I guess what I am saying is that I just want to be loved. Are you my happily ever after? Love Bart xx PLEASE NOTE: This pet is located in Kingaroy. To apply, please go to the website www.karmasplacerescue.org.au and fill in the online adoption enquiry form
