About Scooby
Scooby is a 2yr old German Short Haired Pointer, who is playful, loving and energetic. He is used to being an inside dog and part of the family, and his favourite spot is snuggled up with you on the couch.
Due to no fault of his own, he is looking for an active family who will take him for daily walks/runs, and do daily training with him to keep his intelligent mind occupied. Scooby is incredibly loving and sooky, and would happily sleep on your bed at night, and constantly get ear rubs.
While he does know how to sit, lay down, shake and stay (sometimes!), due to his breeding he is very easily distracted and cannot be trusted off-lead at this point. He will run off and sniff with delight, running up to people to say hello and play with other dogs in his excitable, goofball nature... completely ignoring any of your calls to ask him to come back. He is a vocal lad, and will happily talk and 'aroo' at you during play and when getting ready for walks.
We have been working on walking nicely on the lead without pulling, and are having great success with using a halti. He has also taken very well to sleeping in a crate at night by the bed, rather than on the bed (which is what he has been used to). Sometimes he gets very excited when seeing other dogs on lead, and needs a patient, firm hand to remind him of his doggy manners, however once he is settled into a routine and learns some boundaries, he shows promise of being a delightful well-balanced dog.
Having lost a leg as a pup, Scooby needs to be kept lean for his long-term spine health, but apart from that, he is a healthy and strong 3-legged lad that can keep up with working dogs and loves going for regular walks and swims.
Scooby comes with a harness, collar, lead, a few outfits (he loves being dressed up) and a lot of love to give to his new family!
