About Nellie
Hi, my name is Nellie!
I am a dark brown and white german short hair pointer, stumpy tailed cattle dog mix (with maybe a few other breeds mixed in for some extra flavour!). I am fully grown at around 25kg and just under two years old. I am always complimented for having the most wonderful soft, short hair coat - it's very low maintenance, some would say I just woke up like this!
I am a very friendly girl and equally love human and K9 companions. I especially love playing with water (love that garden hose) and doing outdoor jobs like sweeping and gardening. Some of my favorite pass times are tug of war and carrying sticks away from the firewood pile. Zooming around with my foster sisters allows me to stretch my long legs! I absolutely love having a scruff and calming pat with my humans is lovely! I love eating beef ear treats and equally happy to share a snuffle mat with my foster sisters.
I am a very quick learner and I'd love to learn even more than I do now! I sit, shake and drop on command, though I am practicing to stay focused when there are distractions. I am best suited to an active lifestyle. I'd love a family who is committed to continuing my training on both basic obedience as well as my focus and impulse control. I am learning how to loose leash walk and I’m crate trained for sleeping overnight. I am a little nervous about getting into cars but fine once on the road. When on a walk I am wary of passing other dogs barking at the fence - I'd love if my family could help me to be more confident in this area too!
All in all, I am a happy, friendly girl who is looking for a family who can help me continue to learn and become my best self!
Adoption details
Please do not send an "Enquiry". Please instead follow the below steps:
Step 1: Fill in our application form with as much detail as possible - https://forms.gle/sPnL6QS2ik5A5XUR8
Step 2: If suitable, one of our foster carers will contact you via phone to further discuss the dog you have applied for and assess suitability. The same will also be done for other applicants.
Step 3: A meet and greet will then be organised so that you and the dog can meet.
Step 4: Once the meet and greet has been completed, if our team advises that you may be a suitable candidate you will then be required to submit a detailed written application (a template will be emailed to you) - we will then assess all applications and get back to you with an outcome. We may request a home inspection prior to finalising any application.
Dogs are offered for a trial period in new homes for 21 days before the adoption is confirmed.
No entire dogs will be re-homed under any circumstances.
