About Rose Melbourne
You’ll never be bored in isolation with Rose around. With her soulful personality and many adorable quirks, she is sure to keep you entertained and in good company every day.
Rose makes friends everywhere she goes. Whether it’s with neighbours, strangers on the street or even the tram driver! Her funny little habits make everyone around her smile. Like when she picks up bits of rubbish on her walk and carries them around with her like a toy, or when she stops traffic because she’s decided the middle of the road is the best place to have a wee. This is usually followed by an energetic, happy dance that makes everyone around her giggle. It’s lucky she’s a pretty little thing – no one would expect this kind of cheeky behaviour from her!
Walks are her favourite time of the day. Rose thinks she could walk forever! She would suit an active owner who loves to go for long strolls and will spend time playing with her at home. Another dog would be nice company for her when her owner leaves the home or needs to work. Her hoarding tendencies don’t stop on her walks as she loves to collect items and toys around the house to create a collection on her bed. Precious items will need to be stored in high places!
Rose has adjusted to life as a pet well. She is toilet trained, sleeps soundly throughout the night and is well-mannered around food. Like many greyhounds she loves a cuddle and is comfortable around new people. Rose has learnt many new commands and responds well to training. She will make the perfect best friend to her lucky new owner.
Rose is not cat friendly.

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.
