About Bowie ๐ถ
This little boy is an absolute stunner....Bowie is 12 weeks old and is a Wolfhound x Smithfield Cattle x Staffy mix and extremely unique! He has a beautiful soft coat and a face that will melt your heart ๐
Not only does Bowie have 2 different coloured eyes, he is also a Hermaphrodite! Whilst he has a (small) penis and looks to be a male, during surgery, they discovered that Bowie did not in fact have a scrotum or testicles, he had a uterus and 2 ovaries instead! This is quite rare and something many vets never come across.
So what does this mean for Bowie.....health wise, the only thing he (or she lol) may be prone to is urinary tract infections, but our vets have also said that it may never occur. Otherwise he's a healthy, lovable pup and ready to find that extra special place to call home ๐ก
Bowie is currently in care with his brother Ziggy (who has a beautiful home lined up). He's super friendly, outgoing and playful. He loves spending time with his humans and currently living outside (with access to an enclosed area) which he seems quite content with. He's also living with teenagers and foster parents and enjoys the company of everyone he meets. Whilst he has not had exposure to cats during his time in care, with slow introductions, we believe he would adapt well.
There has been some signs of food aggression between the siblings when it comes to high value treats, but this has settled down. New owners would need to continue working on this with him around other dogs so that this does not escalate into adulthood. We are looking for a home where Bowie would have another older (not senior) active dog to provide him with ongoing socialisation, companionship and guidance, and given the situation with his gender, it probably wouldn't matter too much if they were male or female. At this stage, we believe he will be a medium to large dog when fully grown so you would need to be prepared for this. He will need a medium to large size yard and a home where he will be treated as part of the family ๐จโ๐จโ๐งโ๐ง๐๐
Bowie can get quite mouthy when he's excited and playing, so for this reason, we are recommending kids over the age of 10yrs, but again, with ongoing training, this can be corrected easily enough. He has shown to be quite responsive with training and is learning to sit on command and name recall. He's not an excessive barker, but will let you know when someone arrives or he hears an unusual sound.
As with all our pups, we strongly recommend enrolling in Puppy school. Bowie will need continued socialisation with other dogs during the puppy stage and into adulthood, as well as ongoing training so that he grows up to be a well mannered and socialised boy.
We would love to help get you started with training, so our amazing supporters, Best Friends - Erina, have kindly offered to include a 5 week Puppy training course with all of our Puppy adoptions (up to 16wks of age)....The Best Friends Puppy Pre-School service is a fun and interactive five-week training course that covers puppy behaviours, diet, health, grooming, exercise and play, with an emphasis on socialisation, command training, health and care. Their aim is to teach you positive ways to train your puppy in basic skills such as โsitโ, โdropโ, โstayโ, and how to walk well on a lead, but also how to control your puppyโs not so desirable behaviours like toileting inside, biting, mouthing and separation anxiety.
Bowie has now had all his vet work done and will be ready to head off to his forever home from Saturday 15th August. He is located in Wyongah on the Central Coast NSW.

Adoption details
If you would like to express interest in adopting, we ask that you send through some info about yourself, your family and home, if you rent or own (rental agreement required if renting and rates notice required if you own) and what you can offer this gorgeous baby. Our aim is to find the best homes for our babies, not necessarily first in best dressed, so a good detailed application will make you stand out from the rest.
Once we have received your email outlining the above, those who we feel may be suitable, will be sent an Adoption Questionnaire to complete. Your enquiry will then be passed onto the appropriate carer and successful applicants will be contacted via phone.
