About Millie (ruby)
Millie is a 2 1/2 year old American Bulldog who came to BARC after a less than perfect start to her young life. Leaving a home where she was housed with another dominant dog meant Millie arrived at BARC underweight, nervous and covered in sores and wounds from dog bites.
One look in to her oddly matched sad eyes and everyone at BARC were instantly in agreement that getting this girl back on track was of the upmost importance. It has been a long road to reach this point in our journey but Millie is now carrying a much better weight, is no longer covered in sores and has a spark back in her eyes that makes us smile every single day.
Due to her background Millie is still working on her interactions with other dogs and is currently receiving some one on one training in regards to these behaviours and has progressed well but still has a long way to go.
At present BARC are taking applications from anyone interested in giving Millie a forever home. Our ideal candidate would have some breed experience, not currently have another dog or young children in the home. Someone who may have knowledge in dealing with dogs that possess dominance towards other dogs and a willingness to continue with Millie's training and behavioural modifications.
Millie is an absolute sweetheart and very loyal dog in relation to people, she has a great desire to be loved and give love. She is very affectionate and shows this affection with contact by sitting on your feet or leaning against you whilst walking. Medically Millie has passed all our vet testing and has no real on going issues other than those typical of white dogs.
Everyone has a very soft spot in our hearts for this very special girl and like with all our animals we are in search of the absolute best home. Should you believe that Millie has a place with you please send through an application via e-mail accompanied with a short bio into your background to barcreception@bendigo.vic.gov.au
Available for adoption via application only.

Adoption details
BARC adoption officers will work with you to help you find a dog or cat that matches your needs, they will discuss things like yard fencing, exercise requirements, other pets and family members, lifestyle factors, and breed experience. To help make this as quick and easy as possible, we ask you complete and adoption questionnaire (located on our website, or you can complete on when you visit). This helps ensure that we are introducing you to the most suitable animals we have available.
We encourage all members of the household to attend a meet and greet with a pet prior to adopting an animal. If the animal being adopted is a dog, we will also require existing dogs in the household to attend the shelter as part of the meet and greet.
Holds can not be placed on animals over the phone, and can only be applied at the discretion of management.
