Hi friends,
My name is Ringo and I am the most lovely, gentle giant you've ever met!
I was not very well looked after by my last owner, who eventually abandoned me in the council pound because they didn't want to vet me and shut his gate to keep me safe. I didn't deserve that; I am a really gentle, sweet dog. I get along great with dogs and cats, and all humans too. I am very glad Off The Chain rescued me and gave me a second chance at life. Since coming in, I have been an absolute delight!
At 33kg, I am fully grown and in great health now. I listen well and am very obedient; I just want to please you. I currently live with one other dog, and have lived with other dogs prior too- we got along great! I am a relaxed, happy dog who enjoys naps in the sun, and snuggles with my humans. I have no sign of food aggression, but do try to nick everyone else's dinner - so maybe feed me separately so nobody beats me up!
I know how to sit, wait (before food), lay down, stay (before coming inside), inside, outside- I learn fast and adore making you happy! One of my favourite things is to be brushed, it makes me SO happy, it feels great and is a good one-on-one session with my human. I also like to play fetch (I'm still learning though!). I get along great with children and am used to kids 7yrs +.
I currently sleep in the garage at night. My house training is going well; but it takes me a little while to settle when first left alone in a new home. It is recommended I not be left in the house while you are out- the yard or an enclosure is better so that if I get the 'nervous wees' because I'm scared you're abandoning me, it is on the grass. While you're home however, I am totally trustworthy and can sleep inside and am perfect with toileting. I just worry you'll abandon me like my last owner did.
I got along great with the kittens here- they were a bit scared of me when I sniffed them, so smacked me a few times, and I just backed off and lay down. I am not pushy; I won't even get on the couch without being asked to! I love my outings, and enjoy a run/sniff/roll. I sit well in the car and don't get sick, and I am beautifully behaved at the vet! My new home must have 6ft fencing with no foot holds (eg no horizontal beams with gaps between them that I can step into), or a system eg the PetSafe InGround Fencing System. I would prefer to live with another dog, so that I have someone for company when you are out. Alternatively, I could live alone if the humans are home more often than not.
So what do you think...can you give me a bright future? Can you make up for my prior neglect?
Medical notes
I was heartworm tested in August 2020 and negative - yay! I have been kept up to date with heartworm preventative since then.
Adoption details
PLEASE NOTE - DUE TO COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS WE ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTING ADOPTION APPLICATIONS FROM OUTSIDE Queensland. All pets must be collected from Toowoomba or Brisbane. Transport cannot be arranged by Off The Chain K9 Rescue Qld- this is adopter responsibility. We appreciate your understanding.
Before applying, please consider and finalise the following:
- Real estate approval
- Fence requirements
- Outside shelter areas
- Other resident pets fully vaccinated and preferably desexed
- The rescue pet's dietary requirements eg large breed vs medium breed, age
- Enrichment, exercise and training needs of pet you are applying for
- If you have not read our adoption process below in full, please do not apply until you have.
Once you are ready to adopt, please complete the OTC Adoption Application questionnaire below. This is not a contract or agreement of any kind, just an expression of interest in the animal. We will not authorise meets unless this has been completed and only approved applicants may meet the animal. Once you are approved and have submitted all relevant information, we will organise for you to meet the pet. We will not contact you if you do not complete the form in full AND provided the required photos of yard/fencing within 48hrs. Photos may be sent to our facebook page, or email offthechaink9rescue@outlook.com
ADOPTION APPLICATION: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/OTCadoptionapp
If you apply to adopt but require us to hold the pet more than 3 days before meeting, we will ask you for a non-refundable holding deposit of $100. If you are unwilling to put a deposit on the pet, we will continue to advertise and speak with other potential adopters. If you follow through with adoption after your meet, the $100 holding deposit is then subtracted from the outstanding adoption fee, which is to be paid at collection of the pet. Eg if full adoption fee is $450, and you place a $100 holding fee on the animal- the day you collect the pet you will sign an adoption contract and pay the remaining $350 fee.
All animals are adopted out with vaccinations up to date; any vaccinations due from date of adoption are the ethical and financial responsibility of the adopter. During the trial period, should the pet become ill, you must notify OTC, and present it to the OTC-approved vet clinic we direct you to in your area. OTC will cover any treatment needed at our authorised clinics.
Ready to roll? Then fill out the application form, and we will be in contact to successful applicants asap. Feel free to follow us up via Facebook page inbox. (www.facebook.com/offthechaink9)
