About Charlie
Hi I’m Charlie. I’m 13 and ready for my retirement home.
I’d love a home where I can be with somebody all day, I really don’t like being alone.
I’m currently with 2 foster dogs who are really boisterous and that’s okay ‘sometimes’ but gosh they do my head in with all their carry on. I'd like a puppy friend but one that is quiet and won’t try and bite my legs all the time.
I will happily sleep on your bed all night and not move a muscle. I can work a doggy door coming in, but not out, so I still need a bit of help wth my toilet training. I don’t really know how to sit or come because I don’t think I was ever taught. I will sit for a treat though once told.
I am just so happy to be with people and am not any trouble. Foster mum says I am a dream to walk on a lead and have a little bounce in my step because I just love being outside.
When it gets to feeding time I make a little seal/elephant noise to let you know I’m hungry, according to foster sister it’s very funny.
Come and meet me, you won’t be disappointed. Foster dad says I’m a dream doggy who just needs somebody to be with me a lot. Here’s a poem I wrote about it all:
I could while away the hours
Just sniffing all the flowers
And laying in the sun
Walking, happy and contented
With a family and ‘parent-ed’
If I only had a mum …… (or dad)
Quite puzzling, it’s a riddle
Why inside I sometimes piddle
When you leave me all alone
But when you’re there beside me
I’m so happy, snoozing quietly
Cos I’ll finally have a home
My wishes for my owner
You might even work from home-a
Walk me daily, pat me gently
Give me treats ever so frequently
And I’ll be a happy boy!!!
Medical notes
Charlie is a senior boy at 13 years of age, and is quite good for his age with only the usual senior dog issues.
He has a grade 2 heart murmur and has had chest x-rays which show only very mild enlargement and he doesn’t need to start on heart medication at this stage. It is important though that he doesn’t over exert himself, and we would recommend a resting respiratory rate diary be kept at home to monitor his heart health.
He has recently had a dental and had 4 teeth extracted which he has healed well from.
Charlie also has some arthritis in his hips and stifles, which is typical for a dog his age and we recommend a daily joint support supplement. He currently has Osteocare Joint Chews.
He is up to date with his C5 vaccination, as well as heart worm, intestinal worm, flea and tick prevention.
