About Morgan Melbourne
If you’re looking for someone to love you unconditionally, Morgan is the dog for you.
Sometimes accused of being a bit too close for comfort, Morgan is sure to give you a resounding greeting when you get home each day and will get as close as she can when you fall asleep each night. If let on the bed, she’ll even put her head on the pillow like a little human. It is very sweet.
Morgan is pretty comfortable being with other large dogs and might like a dog brother or sister for company, particularly if her new owner doesn’t work at home. She walks politely on a lead, knows she isn’t allowed on furniture and is happy to spend some time by herself.
Morgan also has a special trick that makes her the envy of other greyhounds... she can sit! Well, kinda. She can’t do it on command yet but she will automatically sit when waiting from something like food or a walk. It’s very cute.
She does have a cheeky side and if she gets her paws on something it’s likely she will chew it. Two loaves of bread and a few toothbrushes have already fallen victim, so vigilance with Morgan is key.
Apart from that, she is a well behaved girl who is very affectionate and just loves a cuddle or two. We think she will make her new owner very happy.
Morgan is not cat friendly. No small dog applications please.

Adoption details
Dogs are pack animals and Greyhounds, in particular, are very familiar with being surrounded by other dogs in their racing kennel environment. For this reason, when left alone without people or other dogs for company, they can be prone to separation anxiety which can manifest in destructive and/or noisy behaviour. Yes, they may "grow out" of it after a few weeks in their new home, but why put the dog through that stress to ultimately live all day alone, while everyone is at work? As a result we do not rehome dogs into households where they are left on their own for more than 4 hours per day, without either people or another dog for company.
During the COVID crisis, not all of our rescued Greyhounds will have the usual socialisation with other dogs so we may advise to use a muzzle in some situations until the dog is fully socialised.

Following your initial application, we conduct a home check. Our dogs are placed on a two week trial. The adoption fee is paid at time of placement and reimbursed if the trial is unsuccessful.
