About Shan
Social distancing guys, have you heard of it? Well I have and I take it very seriously....... I will make an exception if you have a yummy treat in your hand but for the most part, you'll have to admire my soft fluff and curly belly hairs from a distance. I really love a head scratch so if you could invest in a back scratcher for the job that'd be great. Sometimes foster mum will trick me, you know, start off scratching with the back scratcher and when I close my eyes she swaps it for her hand- at which point I really get into enjoying a pat and scratch until I open my eyes and see she's touching me with her bare hand! Ewww! Then I put a stop to that! Who knows, I might change my mind by the time there's a COVID vaccine but for now, keep your distance please.
This isn't to say I'm not interested in being your friend or getting to know you, quite the contrary. When the conditions are right (I prefer the quietness of night and early mornings) I like to follow people around the house to see what they are up to. I'm always up for a chat too. I'm no cat for the weak disposition, you see my default is stalk mode which can be a bit a creepy when I sneak up stealthily to the humans when they are relaxing. But I'm just investigating and I'm so skittish that if you're jumpy we're just going to keep feeding each other's fear of being attacked!
I would much prefer a quiet & calm household, no young kids, or else I'll just find a hiding spot and hide away, plus I have no hesitation in swiping, spitting and lunging when I feel threatened. I'm super playful and my foster family think it's a joy to watch me play because I get so caught up playing that I forget that I'm a bit scared. Any chasing toy on a wand will have me entertained for hours if you're willing to keep playing with me.
I'm really low maintenance, happy to be at home alone while you're at work, not fussy when it comes to food and I'm not demanding in the slightest. Once I find myself a comfy spot, I'll spend an entire day there snoozing. I'm not interested in climbing or going outside, speaking of which, I'll need to be an inside cat on account of my pale features and if you let me out, you'll never see me again. I've come a long way during my time in foster and I'm showing signs of being more confident and relaxed every day so I hope to find a patient owner that will continue to help me build my confidence.
Adoption details
Just browse some of the photos of our beautiful cats available for adoption or come to our shelter in Shenton Park to meet our many beautiful kitties.
Please be aware that the cats featured on this page represent only a very small portion of the total number of beautiful felines we have available for adoption. We do not include any of our kittens on this page, as the turnover for youngsters is simply too high to keep up-dating, but we always have many beautiful kittens looking for homes!
Also many of our cats and kittens are currently staying in temporary foster homes out in the community but are still looking for a loving home, so please call Cat Haven in advance if you want to make arrangements for a meeting with a foster cat.
