About Sparrow SUK005244
Sparrow is a crazy bundle of energy! He is friendly, playful, social and talkative. He is at that age where he needs to learn what is acceptable behavior and what is not, and just like a toddler he will push the boundaries when he can. He is not suitable for a home with young children as he does play rough.
Now that we have you falling in love with our little Sparrow we need to tell you more of his story, because if we told you the sad before the good you may have simply decided he could be too hard. As you read below you will understand why Sparrow must be in a home that will always keep him indoors only.
As a young kitten, Sparrow had severe eye disease (full thickness corneal injury). This resulted in him having scarring inside his eye. His iris is adhered to the cornea. This will cause some vision impairment laterally. Sparrow has very early cataracts that may be progressive.
It is possible this eye condition may progress to include inflammation, cataracts, glaucoma and vision loss. If Sparrow is to find comfort with vision loss, it is important he gets to know his house and environment from a young age. We have decided to place Sparrow into a home as soon as possible, with a plan to adopt from us in 3 months depending on progression.
Cat Protection Society will take financial responsibility and maintain ownership of Sparrow until he revisits the Veterinary Eye Specialist in September 2020. If his disease is progressing and Sparrow is thought to be in pain or suffering, CPS will maintain ownership of Sparrow and make decisions regarding ongoing treatment. If Sparrow’s eye condition is showing minimal progression, CPS will relinquish ownership and ongoing care to the new owner.
Please don’t apply for Sparrow because you feel sorry for him, we will look after him as long as it takes. But if you think you have the love, patience and commitment to give Sparrow the chance he deserves please complete an Adoption Application for him.

Adoption details
You should bring proof of your current address and preferably photo identification such as your driving license. You can only adopt a cat for yourself we do not allow animals to leave with third parties. If you are wishing to adopt a cat as a present for someone, bring them with you as cats are individuals and bond with different people in different ways, the cat you may choose, may not choose your friend!
When you visit you will get to meet the cat and as this is a very important decision for both you and the cat you choose we will want to ensure the two of you are compatible and that you understand what will be involved in taking the cat into your home.
We will want to be satisfied that you are prepared to be a responsible pet owner. Responsible pet owners at the most basic level, have their pets registered, micro-chipped and de-sexed unless they are registered breeders. They also understand the issues involved in being able to properly care and take responsibility for the welfare of their pets. Most Councils in Victoria have limits on the numbers of cats you may own without a permit. It is important to check with your Council if you already own the limit and obtain a permit for the extra cat before adoption. We will require to see your permit.
We will answer any questions you have regarding cat care and help you to obtain any support you may need
